The C414 XLII is a versatile large diaphragm condenser that stands out for studio voice work and general recording, with a warm, refined sound and enough flexibility to handle vocals, piano, and other instruments. It sits in the lower end of the professional mic price range, and the current $799 price is described as below dealer pricing and unusually strong for a brand new unit. The main caveat is that it is overkill for many casual setups, and its sensitivity means live use can invite feedback without the right chain and monitoring. A solid workhorse if you are building a serious recording rig.
The C414 XLII is described as a versatile work-horse microphone with decades of use.
The C414 XLII is reported to sound warmer than some U87 clone options for bass and recording work.
The C414 XLII is described as a strong fit for voice recording, including finding a sweet spot for a female voice.
The C414 XLII is framed as a modern 414 option that can be a killer deal when priced below dealer levels.
Buying used or even "like new" microphones from Amazon is warned against due to a return-fraud experience.
The C414 XLII's high sensitivity is warned to increase feedback risk in live music or concert environments.
The C414 XLII may require careful investment in powering, digitizing, and the rest of the recording chain.
The C414 XLII's upgrade value over cheaper microphones is questioned, with improvements possibly limited past mid-tier pricing.

As far as guitars go, a $100-200 mic is probably the equivalent of a $2000 guitar, i.e. entry level for the quality tier (Fender American, PRS S2 Custom 24, Martin D-17, etc.) So an $800 mic is the equivalent of a low-end Martin Custom Shop guitar: Really good, a solid step up, but still possible to afford if you choose to save up for it and eat ramen for a while.
