When this game was first announced & available to pre-order, I pre-ordered it on Amazon (that's when Amazon had 20% off all pre-order games. That ended a LONG time ago!). Amazon kept my pre-order open for YEARS. The game wouldn't come out for OVER 8 years afterwards from the original 2017 E3 announcement. I pre-ordered the game as my justification to get a Nintendo Switch. Amazon ended up canceling the pre-order because the game took too long to develop 😭😭

I never ended up owning a Nintendo Switch for personal use because the game never come out for all those years.

Now here I am in 2026 with the Ocarina of Time remake that was shown off. I've now pre-ordered a Ocarina of Time switch 2 limited edition console. I just got Mario Kart 8 for $17 on that Walmart price mistake (and the $18 DLC package for the game currently on discount). I just got Link's Awakening for Switch from Walmart for $31. I'm picking up Legend of Zelda Echo of Wisdom for $31 tomorrow at Walmart and I need 1 more Nintendo Switch $31 game. It might just be this game.

2026 is my year. I've finally made it Mom. 🥳🥳

I pre-ordered Metroid Prime 4 in 2019 from Best Buy when gamers club unlimited was still a thing.

I had assumed it had been cancelled when it disappeared from my order history after several years. I got a notification in Sept of 2025 that a shipping date had been set and the pre-order was actually fulfilled after going through some hoops to fix an expired payment method.

The Switch 2 version is $51. Here are the differences:

You can also get the Switch version and upgrade later for $10 more. That way you can play on both consoles.

I would not get this. I would get either the Prime 1 remaster or Dread over this.

I'll get all 3 for sure. I feel bad for Nintendo. They spent so much money to have that development team create Prime 4. You know internally it didn't meet their expectations (that's why a game would take 8 years to make). I'll still support it, hoping they continue to pump out these games for the older audience (mature). It might be a rare L for Nintendo, but I guess I'll find out once I play it.

Rather get the Switch 2 version for $50, which is dual compatible with the original switch and switch 2.
