The Switch 2 Pro Controller stands out as a premium-feeling upgrade for Switch 2 play, with a slightly smaller shape, wake-from-sleep support, and extra back buttons. It is praised as far better than the two Joy Con setup and even called a favorite controller overall. The main tradeoffs are the $80 price and missing extras like an audio jack, HD haptics, and Switch 2 wake support in some comparisons. Stick drift and snapback are also raised, though long-term use without drifting is reported too, making it a strong fit if those omissions do not matter.
Smash players who want a controller with a compact feel, because it is slightly smaller and the stick snapback only shows up during Smash for one owner.
Players who want a favorite-feeling everyday controller, because it is described as the best controller across multiple console brands with no drifting after years of use.
Switch 2 players who want extra back buttons and wake-from-sleep support, because the controller adds rear buttons and can wake the console from sleep.
Stick drift is a concern, but one long-term owner reports no drifting after years of use. Another reports snapback, where the stick can briefly register the opposite direction when released, especially in Smash.
Y'all are crazy, ain't nobody buying a Switch 2 Pro controller for PC. And anyone recommending 8BitDo controllers for the Switch 2 doesn't know what they are talking about - so many missing features when used on the Switch 2. If you want a controller for PC you should get a PC controller, not a Switch 2 one.
At least recommend the EasySMX S10 or Mobapad Chitu 2 - actual 3rd party controllers that at least try to get a bunch of Switch features on their controllers for a reasonable price.
How does this compare to the original Switch Pro Controller? I use mine on the Switch 2 all the time, and don't know if the 2 version is worth an upgrade

Slickdeals doesn't tend to have the right audience for every product. It's every consumer jammed onto every product. For an actual Switch 2 enthusiast this is a great deal. The pro controller is way better than the 2 Joycon setup. I have 1, wish I had 4.
I own this controller. There's snapback(letting go of the joystick at it's furthest point(i.e. left) will sometimes input the opposite direction(i.e. right) as it travels back to its original position), but only noticeable when I'm playing Smash.

Yes, it can wake the Switch 2 from sleep. It also adds back buttons and is slightly smaller than the previous controller.
No, it does not have an audio jack or HD haptic rumble. It uses standard rumble instead, so those higher-end features are missing.
