No headphones outside of a professional environment are worth $200. That doesn't keep self-proclaimed "audiophiles" from throwing stupid amounts of money at them.
I've used cheap to 200 dollar headphones and am definitely not a professional. I have the K702s bought for 99 dollars from guitar center and definitely think their worth it compared to any cheap headphones I've bought.
What an interesting take you have though. Given that then outside of professional use for any product we should buy the cheapest acceptable product. Pro gamers for mice, monitors, gpus, cpus. The argument you're making is ridiculous. Given anyone living in ignorance can live with the bare minimum, I doubt everyone would agree with you or your point.

Yes, yes, you're one of the blessed few who can hear things other mere mortals can't. Probably on vinyl, no less.
I couldn't care less whether suckers and posers agree with me.

If you can't hear the difference between headphones then maybe you listened to music too loudly when you were younger
$200 is definitely in the zone of diminishing returns. A $800 pair of headphones won't sound 4x better than a $200 pair. But there are definitely some differences or improvements when you move between the different tiers. But the price for those improvements will not be worth it to many.
To each their own, everyone has their own tastes and preferences in life. Not everyone is willing spend extra on nicer audio, just like how not everyone is willing to spend on nicer cars or a nicer TV or nicer clothes.
