This Milwaukee M12 FUEL stubby impact wrench combo is a compact, high torque setup that shines in tight spaces and still has plenty of punch for small to medium automotive work. The 1,2 inch drive is the better fit for lug nuts and suspension jobs, while the included high output battery adds value. The main knock is price, since similar 1,2 inch and battery bundles have been cheaper before, and 3,8 inch versions and socket sets tend to go on sale more often. A solid compact option if the larger drive matches the work you actually do.
Common Questions (5)
The 1/2-inch combo with a battery has reportedly not gone below about $200, while the tool-only version was $120 and the battery bundle was $160 about a year ago. A $159 sale was also seen last year on the exact new model in 3/8 with battery.
The 3/8-inch setup is easier to fit in tight spots because 3/8 impact sockets are typically shorter and thinner, which helps around brake calipers and front hubs. The 1/2-inch version is still strong, but it is less ideal when every millimeter of clearance matters.
The 3/8-inch version goes on sale more often, and compatible socket sets are discounted more frequently too. The 1/2-inch battery combo is less common below the current range, so it makes more sense to buy now only if you specifically need the 1/2-inch drive.
The 1/2-inch drive is the better choice for lug nuts and suspension work. If you mainly want a compact tool for tighter jobs and do not plan on those heavier tasks, the 3/8-inch version is the more practical pick.
Yes, a reducer or adapter lets you use 3/8 sockets on the 1/2-inch drive. That setup can cost some torque, so it is best when you want the stronger 1/2-inch tool but still need to run smaller sockets.

I have a big 18v 1/2" impact impact and I find myself using a 3/8" impact for almost everything. I keep a nice kit of 3/8" sockets and it goes everywhere with me.
They have so much power these days, portability is important to me. If I need to pull out the 1/2" stuff, I'm either working on something really big or I'm having a bad day.
As far as price goes - you can search slickdeals and get a sense for how much something often goes for and how often it's on sale. One of my favorite features of SD since I can know if I should jump on a deal or wait.

Helpful. The 3/8 in is not on sale for 206 but is 224. Seems a small
Difference in price
