That being said, this isn't a printer that is always going to "just work" for every print. Most aren't, but there are more expensive printers that are more bulletproof. You have to learn a lot along the way. AI is pretty great at helping. For me, I have enjoyed learning what I do wrong and how to fix it. That also includes hardware malfunctions. I had a filament chunk break off and get stuck, so I learned about how to take the extruder head apart and remove it.
Single tool printers also waste a LOT of filament for large multicolored prints. If that is of concern to you, you might look at more than doubling your budget and starting with a multi tool unit.
My AD5X has worked really quite well and I think it's well worth the $200 to get into this hobby and learn.

As others have mentioned, it's not quite as "plug and play" as a Bambu. The hardware is, but the software - more specifically the models database - is a mess. For example, it's full of purported multicolor prints that turn out to be an stl file that someone randomly dropped on there (instead of a 3MF). It's completely non-curated and in no way Flashforge related - tons of thinly masked thingiverse links, etc. So if you don't have much experience and want a WYSIWYG model with this printer, I'd avoid the models in their database and head over to makerworld. From there, you can download a 3MF file, run it through forgebridge.app and import it into the Flashforge software for slicing/printing.

It's a great unit - FOR THE MONEY.
It wastes a LOT of filament, takes easily 30-50% longer to print than a single color unit, and fails far more than one as well. Anecdotally, mine "died" in it's first month, and I sent it back...though I think that was a fluke.
But - it's 1/3 the price of its nearest 4-head, truly waste-free competition. When it works, it works very well, creating beautiful prints, and tends to be a workhorse.
I'll likely hold out and save up for the Creator 5 next time...best of all worlds, though 3x the cost of this unit. Black Friday/Cyber Monday are coming right up.
