Metroid Ravenous is shaping up as a 2D Metroid entry that leans on the strengths of Dread and Samus Returns, with fast combat, tricky timing, and the kind of exploration the series is known for. The $59.88 preorder matches the digital price and undercuts the $70 physical MSRP, with the same price also showing at Walmart. The special edition is not available and appears to be only a steelcase and amiibo. The main hesitation is value and difficulty, since the price feels high for a 2D game and the combat can be punishing, though the presentation is praised as gorgeous and technically impressive.
The preorder price reportedly matches the digital price at $59.88 while physical MSRP is listed at $70.
Wall hacks reportedly let players open inaccessible paths and skip bosses without using cheats.
The game reportedly offers a very high-end visual performance, including 4K 60 fps and 120 fps at 1080p.
The developer's earlier Metroid Dread on Switch reportedly delivers strong gameplay that can guide expectations for this title.
The SAVE3X code reportedly does not appear to work on this preorder, unlike it did for the OOT preorder.
Attack and encounter timing reportedly feels difficult, and progress can stall before finishing the game.
Some expectations reportedly shift toward watching videos if the game plays like Metroid Dread's intense robot encounters.
The $70 price reportedly feels high for a 2D Metroid entry compared with prior handheld remakes.

You're missing out on MP4. It's definitely the weakest out of the series and it does have a lot of issues. But those issues, like the NPCs and the annoying desert, are mostly overblown and aren't that big of a part of the game. And it is hands down the most gorgeous game Nintendo has released to date. Who would have thought a Nintendo game would be running at 4K 60 fps let alone 120 fps (at 1080p)? If you're a metroid fan you really should play it. But get it on sale or even better borrow it from someone.
