I'm just looking for a mini PC for connecting to TV to watch TV and for lightweight games like real flight simulator.

I replaced my father-in-law's aging HP All-in-one with a Beelink SER5 and a 27" monitor about two years ago, and for surfing, streaming, and light gaming, it has been a gem. Not one single hiccup. And, since it came with a vesa adapter, I have it mounted on the back of his monitor, so it takes up the same desk space that his old all in one did.
What games does your FIL play??

I own 3 "chinese" mini pc. They all run but 2 have some small quirks like fan curves or slow wifi. Probably the major issues come from people actually running them hot by modern gaming on them or letting the cpu/gpu being chewed away from some process.

Look at that sweet, sweet 8GB of DDR4.

IN 2026.

I'm so thankful I can contribute to AI hedge funds buying third and fourth yachts by using old, aging tech.

The linked item has two choices. Sky-Blue is expensive but Blue has coupon that brings the price down to originally posted $189. See https://a.co/d/0fjTnE9K
The blue has a lower model CPU. R3 5300 vs 5400

The problem is 256GB is useless as a server unless you want to plug in eternal drivers. Even then Windows and updates will take half of that and installing too many things on your C drive can basically crash windows if you fill it up. This really needs 1TB minimum for any miniPC to make sense.

i think your confusing server and network storage.

256gb will run plenty of docker containers / game server/ self hosted apps
