If you plan on using this frequently I would recommend also buying a replacement blade set part # VDV999-076 for when they eventually get dull.

There's nothing wrong with this tool, it's professional, will last you years even as a pro (several lifetimes as a home user).
I will also say there is nothing wrong with the $20 variations of passthrough crimpers you can get from other brands.
In general though (in the pro world)...anything with plugs is usually getting a factory made patch-cord. Anything that is a long run is getting keystone jacks put on either end.
It's a good skill to have and is not difficult to learn so at the very least check out a YouTube on it.
