FYI a chinese company owns and makes this "smart" lock. They just pay to use the Philips name to fool the average American. Philips does not own, make, or profit from this product. Don't buy

Philips is a Dutch brand so they have a limited presence in the US. They only directly make medical equipment, razors, and toothbrushes. Everything else for the US market is pretty much licensed. They focus mostly on revenue from licensing agreements similar to GE in the consumer market.
Philips Hue is licensed to Signify (a former Philips spin off that acquired Chinese operations from WIZ). Power devices (power strips, surge protectors) are licensed to Jasco which in turn uses a few Chinese manufacturers to white label their products (HANGZHOU KAITE ELECTRICAL APPLIANCE CO and NINGBO LITESUN ELECTRONICS CO., LTD are the main ones -- who also make products for Black and Decker, Amazon Basics, GE, iHome, MONSTER and others). The company's monitors and audio equipment is made by license holder TPV (a Hong Kong tech company). These smart locks are made by Conex a Chinese company.
Unfortunately most things we buy are made by just a handful of manufacturers with different logos slapped on them. If you want transparency look up the products ETL or UL listing, as it reports data back to its actual manufacturer and lists all the trade names the product is sold under. It's eye opening.

Thanks, chatgpt. Yes, Philips is just licensing their name. To those small items to chinese, who suck at marketting to the west, and have very shit poor recognition.
Still doesn't mean anyone should Hu this wholly chinese product. Don't buy

No, ChatGPT just a knowledgeable consumer. You'd be surprised how many things are licensed. Like I said, use ETL and UL listing information to make informed purchases. Either to find reputable manufacturers or to not overpay for marketing.
