I own the PS4 version of this game, but I honestly can't recommend it enough. It's super fun, easy for new people to pick up, and kind of works as a drop-in replacement for a modern Mario Kart. It's a bit visually overstimulating to be honest but I like that part. The rival system is also a nice touch. Was fun to beat all the courses and collect all the red rings along the way! Worth it at this price for sure!

I'll second that recommendation. I think I might even prefer it to Mario Kart in a lot of ways. Had a blast with this game on Xbox Series X. They had a free weekend, and my partner and I played through all the courses then. I plan on picking up the digital deluxe edition eventually.

I got it for the same price on Steam and been playing it with my 9yo, we're having a blast with it. Definitely second that person that said it's visually overstimulating but definitely still playable. Works great as a non-Nintendo cart game. Not a fan how the DLC characters are shown in character selection but you have to buy them, but guess that's modern gaming. But she's bugging me to buy the SpongeBob dlc now lol.

I bought it and I can't recommend it. They can't decide if they want it to be a "competitive" racer and focus on meta builds and the like. Or a dumb mario kart clone with even worse items that just punish you for playing. I'd say stay far away unless they add it to game pass or that "year 1" version is dirt cheap. There's a reason the game underperformed.
