King Arthur 100 percent organic bread flour is framed as a reliable, shelf stable flour that behaves the way bread and cake recipes expect. It is praised as a standard choice for specific baking needs, while generic all purpose flour is seen as fine for cookies and White Lily as the better pick for biscuits. The main drawback is value, since the organic label is treated as a premium that pushes the price well above conventional flour and several Costco or Kirkland alternatives. Shipping damage is also a concern if the bag arrives leaking.

  • The flour is described as a reliable, shelf-stable option that behaves exactly as recipes expect.

  • The organic label is framed as a legitimate choice for bakers who want specific bread or cake flour performance.

  • The comments suggest Ardent Mills flour from Costco can be better or similar for bread flour needs.

  • Kirkland organic bread flour is presented as a lower-cost alternative, raising questions about who manufactures it.

  • The organic label is criticized as a premium that can cost more than double per pound versus conventional flour.

  • Amazon shipping and handling are flagged as a risk for damaged packaging that could lead to flour spilling.

  • The deal's value is challenged as not being worthwhile even after a stated discount compared with regularly priced conventional flour.

I'm just concerned about the packaging taking a beating from Amazon shipping and handling. In the end not worth the trouble if at least half spills into the shipping container.
It seems like everything from Amazon is improperly packed and padded or shipped in a thick paper bag that provides no protection to the packaging of the contents. I got a box of band-aids that were crushed in one of those thick paper bags last week. It was refunded and I kept the product. Contact them and press them.

Nope. You made that up. And it concerns me you don't seem to know what you're talking about because glyphosate isn't a pesticide, it's an herbicide...

Organic produce uses pesticides, and herbicides, of far greater toxicity than conventional produce.

Bacillus thuringiensis, Spinosad, Pyrethrins, Copper Sulfate, Sulfur, and neem oil, just off the top of my head are all approved for use on organic produce.
USDA-certified organic crop production does not allow glyphosate. USDA specifically lists glyphosate as prohibited for organic crop production.
AMS +1
Organic farms can use certain herbicides, but they have to be substances permitted under organic rules—for example, some products based on vinegar or clove oil.

So the distinction is:
Organic uses herbicides and pesticides, but not glyphosate.

Know the basics, or the semantics? I think the fact that they *falsely* said it contained no pesticides, and later edited the comment to say no herbicides, 👏when it does in fact contain BOTH 👏 in greater quantities and ranking much higher on The Hodge and Sterner Scale.

No one said it used glyphosate. I said it used herbicides and pesticides of a far higher toxicity and in much higher quantity. Because they do.

While we're (you're) discussing glyphosate, did you know that every entity that ever studied it affirmed it was safe, and that IIRC did not conduct any of their own studies or even handle the chemical in any way when they decided it wasn't safe? You should really read the report yourself. Convincing a California jury that something causes cancer doesn't actually make it a carcinogen.

Try ardent mills from Costco. It's better or similar to KA
Last time I bought flour from Costco, my wife was not happy with me since it was a lot more to store than she's used to having lol

I just want to make sure everyone understands they are paying a premium here for the Organic® label, which confers nothing of quality or value whatsoever.

A 15 lb bag of King Arthur's bread flour is $9.99 at my Costco. It isn't on sale, that is the everyday price. That's $0.66 / lb versus this at $1.29 / lb.

Just to know the flour is organic, you will pay more that double.
California Costcos only got 12lb bags

Give it another 25 son. All the toxins, injuries and bad habits catch up with you in the mid-70's. No escaping toxins though...the most polluted plases on Earth are the poles (wind currents). Hearsay RoundUp is good for you.

True. But they have Kirkland Organic bread flour, 20 lbs for $17.50. I wonder who makes the Kirkland flour?

Is there a better flour than King Arthur's? I think it's the best but I'd love to know if someone thinks different
Caputo is better because it's not grown in the US.
