The cordless electric scissors are aimed at breaking down boxes and thick cardboard faster than a utility knife, especially when heavy shipping cartons need to fit into a recycling bin. They seem handy for Amazon boxes and piles of cardboard, and the USB C charging is a plus. The main cautions are that the listing reviews appear mismatched, and thicker or stapled cardboard can require multiple passes or feel underpowered. At this price, it looks like a practical box cutter for occasional heavy-duty cleanup.

Even with the bogus reviews this still a decent price if you're cutting up a bunch of boxes. Makes breaking them down a breeze if you have a ton. They may or not handle some thicker cardboard depending on the size of the opening. Those adjustable ones will work way better for that but way more expensive. Also good thing these are C to C because some of the type c ones will only work on USB-A ports or stuck with barrel jack for charging.

I have one of these. Not this exact brand, but looks the same. It's alright, seems underpowered and/or not sharp enough. But not bad. I use it for larger boxes that are difficult to fold into something that will fit in a recycle bin.

I think $15 is a good price to try something like this if you think you might need it. Since I bought this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0GYNCXL9B? Electric scissors show up up on my "For You" page. The one I bought works very well on Amazon boxes. I think most of these will. I am clearing out a basement that has really old boxes. Thick cardboard held together with metal staples. The scissors are not as efficient. Gets stuck, have to do multiple passes. (Still better than trying to rip them apart sending years of dust/crud/whatever in the air. Or using a utility knife that could slip.)

Did I need this? Probably not. Has it made some things easier? Yes. (Also - novelty the first few times you use it. That wears off quickly, but still works well!)

The promo code took off $13 for me not $15, so my total was $17 but I'm in for one to give it a shot.

Not many reviews on this tool. I own the Worx version and highly rated and I agree. It will be on sale quite a bit coming up for the holidays.
If you look at the reviews, theyre for a completely different product. Cant tell if thats Amazon shenanigans or CN seller shenanigans

I don't know, $15 could buy a lot of matches and that breaks boxes down WAY smaller. Plus, marshmallows.

Weird that so many people totally miss the point of these. Obviously if all you're doing is opening boxes, a utility knife will suffice. But these electric scissors come in handy when on the rare occasion you need to cut thick cardboard -- like the kind they ship heavy stuff in, say a microwave or vacuum cleaner. Those boxes are often huge and don't fit the typical single household recycling bin. One has to cut the boxes down to make it fit into the bin. Those kinds of thick cardboard is really difficult to cut with a utility knife. Not that it's impossible to get by without the electric scissors. A utility knife can do the job. Just that it takes some effort and is inconvenient for this specific use case.

It literally says cardboard cutter, not box opener.

Ha I saw that after. Okay, bad marketing, but electric cardboard cutters are very useful.

I believe many manufacturers do this especially listed 4-5 different tools on the same post. When you hit reviews make sure you scroll down to the filter button to only see reviews for the particular tool you're researching.
