Community Reviews

US Mobile's annual Unlimited plan is a low-cost way to get flexible multi-network service, with strong international roaming and helpful customer support. The Dark Star AT&T option gets the most praise for speed and coverage, and the premium tier adds higher priority plus better streaming limits. The main tradeoffs are the one year lock in, hotspot caps, and network specific quirks like iPhone 5G SA limits, watch compatibility, and video quality settings that need reactivation. It looks best for travelers or anyone who values carrier switching over a simple unlimited setup.

  • US Mobile can offer better renewal pricing than the standard renewal rate when support is contacted.

  • US Mobile supports network switching, letting plans use multiple carrier networks through multinetwork.

  • International roaming reportedly worked flawlessly across multiple countries for a two-week trip.

  • Unlimited Premium reportedly supports 4K streaming when Data Waster is enabled on both networks.

  • Network performance can vary by region, with Dark Star or Warp reportedly slower or lacking signal in some areas.

  • The annual promo can lock service for a full year, limiting flexibility to change plans.

  • Video streaming limits can be restrictive, and Data Waster mode may require re-activation every 30 days.

  • Hotspot usage is capped rather than truly unlimited, which can constrain tethering.

interesting. i wonder if that's that a technical side-effect of the multi-network addon, or if they changed the numbers behind the scenes

my info came from a reddit post by an official usmobile support agent (18 days ago):

My source is my iPhone through US Mobile using the Speedtest(dot)net app. But who knows. 4K video can mean a lot of different things because of bitrate. Not all 4K video is the same.

I was interested in US Mobile after seeing them mentioned in a YouTube video. I was thinking of doing the by the gig for 10GB for 2 people, which would only be $28 total ($14 each). We usually use 5GB combined at the most. The only thing that concerns me is the data de-prioritization. We've been with T-Mobile for about 4 years now and are extremely happy with their coverage, but we pay $70 total. We're in the Bay Area. Any advice?
We used to do this. Paid about the same. Then we switched to unlimited, as for $2.50 more we stopped having to worry about data use. ($199 for a year of unlimited starter.)

Same offer off and on. Wait until next year if you can, when they offer $150/yr for Unlimited Premium. I couldn't wait so I moved alll my 4 lines to us mobile a few weeks ago.

Google fi essentials is $9, premium is $17 with 75% off. I don't know what better deal than that.

Mine is going to renew for 270 in a month. What's the best . Im using the one with T-Mobile towers , can't remember the name.

Mint mobile or visible ?
Infimobile is extremely cheap - $75 for the year for 10gb/mo or mint mobile unlimited plan for a year for $15/mo. I'm prolly going with mint once my us mobile plan expires, then I'll switch again in another year

No catch. It's a good service. Reps are extremely helpful except when you want to cancel then they might offer you a better offer than the renewal price. But the renewal price promo won't be as good as a new sub offer. But at least they will throw you a bone as an existing sub.
Yes! Talk to them before you pay the other carrier. Don't make the mistake of paying Google Fi or whatever before asking US Mobile if they will match the deal. The worst they can do is say no.

Is it truly unlimited data if on Dark Star? Or is there a potential slow down once you hit a certain amount?

IIRC, there is a theoretical slow down by ATT at 70 or 100GB. I've been over 20GB on Dark Star Unlimited Starter with no noticeable change. Unlimited Premium gets you a higher priority connection (QCI 9 vs 8)

Visible 15 mpbs hotspot isn't enough for me. Is this uncapped hotspot speed?

I have the unlimited premium plan, just switched from tmobile. In Seattle, tmo seems to have the best coverage. They seem fine, just get a lot more spam texts and calls. Also if you go to reddit you can get a referral code from someone to get $30 gift card. Finally this is pretty much normal price, it won't go away after x days.
Spam has nothing to do with carrier.

It absolutely does when the carrier DOESN'T have free built-in Spam blocking.

edit: They have only recently added spam detect/protect/block depending on what network you're using and it seems to cost $2/month.

This is their regular price. Around BF, you get deals with $11/$12 a month average cost (albeit annual payment). Also, Dark Star/ATT has the cheapest plans as well.
If you live in an area with dish network coverage dark star might not actually be AT&T. Dark star where I am is abysmally slow, where every other AT&T MVNO is good.
