Bottom line: dont look for trouble and the majority of the time, trouble won't find you
I lived in Philly for 5 years, and have lived in ATL for the past 15. They're almost as different as two major American cities can get. Philly is gritty, concrete, blue collar. Atlanta is forested (nickname is city in a forest), naturalistic (most of it is not on a grid) and white collar. For tourists, the eastside beltline, piedmont park, and the Krog/Cabbage town areas are fun free in-town destinations. The aquarium is world class, and the botanical garden is excellent (but prob not in Jan Feb). Hiking Stone Mountain is also a fun experience, feels like being on the moon at the summit, but it would be cold as heck at that time of year. If you're into landscape architecture/residential architecture the Druid Hills neighborhood is super cool and historic (listen to Malcolm Gladwell's podcast episode about it)
Also, I'm sure you were being tongue-in-cheek, but the KKK isn't active Atlanta. ATL has been the city too busy to hate the 1960s, and is incredibly diverse and inclusive. I definitely witnessed more overt acts of racism in Philly.
All in all, worth the visit if you just want to experience a place totally different from philly...but I'd prob suggest going in the spring or fall, not when these tickets are on sale for.
