This headlight restoration kit is aimed at clearing cloudy lenses with an easy, all in one process, and the included instructions and warranty support stand out. The kit is described as simple to follow, with everything needed in the box, and it reportedly worked on a 2019 Acura MDX headlight starting to cloud. The ceramic coating is the main draw, but the long term durability is questioned, with stronger alternatives like wet sanding, motorized buffing, or a 3M drill kit called out as more effective. A dependable basic option if convenience matters more than maximum longevity.

  • The kit can be easy to follow and may work on a clouding 2019 Acura MDX headlight.

  • The kit includes everything needed and reportedly offers lifetime warranty or replacement support if issues occur.

  • A Cerakote three-step process described in the comments can produce strong before-and-after clarity when instructions are followed.

  • Wet sanding followed by a ceramic-style coating approach can last longer than temporary oxidation removal methods.

  • Toothpaste or bug spray only removes oxidation temporarily and can leave results lasting only a couple weeks.

  • Hand restoration kits may not work well unless a motorized buffer is used for buffing.

  • The included 2K clear is reportedly not meant for plastic headlights and can eventually yellow, requiring sanding to fix.

  • The TABOUNTS kit may not be worth it even at 50% off compared with a 3M kit that can also help remove scratches.

Wrong. Toothpaste or bug spray will take off the oxidation layer and look good for maybe a couple weeks. If you buy a kit with a protective ceramic coating like griots, it'll last closer to 2 years before it shows any yellowing. I can't speak on the quality of this "ceramic" but real ceramic is not in the same discussion as toothpaste.

I've used many kits and none come close to just buffing off the damaged clear coat and applying a ceramic coating after.

No, get the 3m with drill kit, otherwise you'll suffer and do a bad job from the level of monotonous labor.

How about if I use toothpaste that has ceramic coating?

Spoken like someone who has never once done a proper headlight restoration.

As the other poster mentioned: definitely definitely do not do this.

Do it properly and it will notably improve the appearance of older vehicles. A multi-step process with proper time is necessary, but well worth it.

The 3M or Sylvania restoration kits are very highly rated.

These normally won't work too well unless you have something motorized to buff it with.

Better kit currently at $9.56, that can help remove scratches as well from sanding on restoration. When done properly one of the best kits. Same price for better product overall. This one not worth it even 50% off.

More about the sanding and evening surface and removing buildup micro scratches. Hand buffing possible after coat application just takes a while. Other products don't even require buffing when done right sanding.

Just gotta tell you. Cerakote 3 step process is amazing. Does it work forever? they claim it but we will see. So far worth every penny.

I actually did a set for my daughter-in-law's car. let me see if i can upload a before and after.
Truly awesome (and no i don't get a thing by helping you with your headlights).

Following all the instructions!
shade (no direct sunlight), wash headlights, then go through the 3 step process (inside the packaging is their link to youtube instructional video).
