This one tells you exactly how fat you've gotten, how quickly you're expanding, and what percentage of you is pure flab. It uses dual frequencies to really prove how rotund you are. And it shows 5 sections of your body, so you can see how every part of you is pudgy.

Basically, these GE scales aren't actually measuring body fat % but using a mathematical equation to just give you a number.

Had this for a few months. It seems like a good app, solid device, and measures well. I doubt you will find better for the price. If I bought again I probably would choose one with wifi so I didn't have to worry about opening the app.

How reliant is this on the companion app? Do all the features work without the app, or is this just a very expensive scale if the app stops being available? Is the app still being actively developed and maintained by GE?

I've bought too many electronics that became bricks when the manufacturer ended support for the companion app.

Note these are not related to GE. The name is just liscenced. I bought one from the same OEM for around $40 and it was terrible for multiple reasons. It was difficult to use and impossibly inaccurate. Also the handle makes measuring weight, the only thing it can do reliably difficult because the handle itself weighs a certain amount that may or may not be included.

Highly recommend against this.

I bought this last time it was this price.

At least the one I got was HUGELY inaccurate compared to my DEXA scan.

It got the fact right that its my mid section that has all the fat and not the limbs, but how much fat and muscle was totally wrong compared to DEXA.

Nothing can compete with a Dexa Scan. However, as inaccurate as these might be, they care consistent. It will tell you if you are gaining fat or muscle. Use that as a guideline

Curious how this stacks up to the body composition machines at the gym and supplement store? How about compared to a Samsung Watch 8 or comparable watch with health measuring abilities. My watch is pretty much exactly the same as the pro machine at my supplement providers. Other than breaking down limb composition but that's visually evident for the most part lol. Although this would be useful to see muscle growth in the arms and legs individually when using a specific lifting protocol.

I've had this for about 6 months and find it easy to use, and at least precise (consistent) despite all them being inaccurate. The big benefit is the app does all the logging so I'm not writing it all down.

You will get wildly different results using "athlete" vs "normal" modes. I technically work out enough to be called an athlete, I just struggle with why that matters so much. Bio impedance shouldn't really care about it that much, your body is what it is. That just tells you it's using lots of shortcuts and assumptions.

I was an early adopter of Ozeri and Tanita BF scales more than 25 years ago and they all suck, but can be useful for trending. That's about all.
