Being able to rip and watch region B has been one of the coolest parts of self hosting (Jellyfin, Plex, etc)

I am unfamiliar with the technicalities of region A/B and ripping. Can you elaborate? Does ripping a Blu-ray remove region locking, and if so, does that break any 'laws'? Thanks in advance for clarification.
