Alkaline vs. Lithium:
The Kwikset Verdict
Kwikset recommends Alkaline batteries because Lithium batteries have a flat discharge curve that can prevent the 'low battery' warning from triggering until the lock is dead.
Just did the 24 count energizer deal from the other day and it came in a box (6 boxes of 4) rather than a sealed container. And the boxes are not sealed.

but alkaline leak can also kill a lock, i vote give up alkaline, add super capacitors to locks that don't support lithium low battery
