Eek yeah, you know if I buy this it'll be a Google Chromecast dedicated device, or Nvidia Shield. Not going to let Vizio spy on me on behalf of Walmart, that's Google's job lol.

You should never buy a smart TV for the OS. The OS will get old and slow, and won't always stay updated. But a TV for the picture quality, then buy a streaming box/stick. It's much easier and cheaper to replace your streaming device than it is your TV.

Years ago, Vizio came up with a concept: The Theater Display, It was just a giant monitor without an OS. The only thing that different it from a PC monitor is that it had built-in speakers but the concept was not a money maker for manufacturers and it was phased out.

Yes, they make a lot more money off of your data, which is a good reason to keep them from connecting to the internet, but sometimes that can cause issues (like not getting new features introduced during updates). I don't use any of the smart TV features on any of my TV's. We have Fire TV Sticks connected to all of them, and also an Onn 4K Pro and Apple TV for our main TV. We have an older 43" LG TV that's extremely slow, but with the Fire TV connected, you wouldn't know it was 10 years old.

I sort of disagree - you can apply the same update logic to the streaming box/stick. You'll have to replace that too so may as well get as many years as possible out of the actual TV OS first. Reputable OS's update for years. That's why I strongly prefer Google/Android/Roku Tv's that continue to update for many years. My Sony Android TV from like 2019 still keeps the OS up to date, I've never even considered using a box/stick because there's no need to, and that also means I'm still getting firmware updates automatically.
So while the OS shouldn't be the primary consideration, I still think you can get tremedous value and many years of service out of picking a good one.

Wifi 6 plus Dolby Vision, the future is here. I'm still on Wifi 5 and a sound bar. LOL
