Here's my situation -- it may not apply to you, but it applies to me.
For Two-Day Shipping, it's utterly useless. I'm in a rural area. At best, an order takes 4-7 days to get to me. Some products are "backordered" and might not arrive for weeks or even months (given I mostly only use Amazon for truly slick deals, sometimes you have to play the waiting game).
If I need something ASAP, there's a Walmart, Home Depot, Lowes, and many other retail stores within a 45 minute drive.
As for Free Shipping, every one of my orders is above the $35 free shipping threshold. Remember, I'd need to pay for shipping three times ($6.99 per order) in a month before I'd "lose" money by not getting "PRIME". And I haven't paid for shipping once. Ever. Then again, it's an unusually busy month if I even make two "AMAZON" orders...!
Worst case, there are enough filler items to make it worth my while - napkins, toilet paper, canned goods, etc. And there's always the "Subscribe & Save" feature to avoid the shipping cost on many consumables.
I don't watch TV...and I've made it my goal to avoid advertisements at all cost, so Prime TV is a bunch of advert-laden noise.
That just leaves Prime-only Discount Pricing, and sadly, that's just not good enough. I can usually find an alternative that's NOT requiring a subscription....or wait long enough, the pricing drops. Strangely during "PRIME DAYS", all the normal "sale" prices increase back to MSRP and the "PRIME" price is now the former sale price. Very strange indeed.
So I'm not an "AMAZON" subscriber...!
