This Blackstone stainless steel burger press is mainly for smash burgers and flat searing, with enough weight to improve contact and give an even crust. The slim, lightweight shape makes it easy to handle and store, and stainless steel is easier to clean than cast iron, even dishwasher friendly. It also works for holding bacon down or pressing burgers straight down with less fuss than a wide spatula. The main knocks are that it feels too light for some, the ribbed back can stick to burgers, and cast iron is still seen as better for heat retention and versatility.
Smash-burger cooks who want better contact and an even sear, because the press is heavy enough to keep patties flat on the surface.
Griddle cooks who want a press that is easy to clean, because stainless steel is simpler to wash than cast iron and can go in the dishwasher.
Home cooks pressing bacon or two burgers at a time, because the press is light enough to move around yet still holds bacon down.
Burger cooks who prefer a straight-down smash over a wide spatula, because this tool makes that motion easier.
Cooks who want a heavy, heat-holding press for top crust, because this thin stainless design only smashes the patty instead of searing the top.
Smash-burger cooks who hate sticking, because the ribbed surface can grab the patty and tear it apart when lifting.
Grill cooks using slotted grates, because the liquid can smoke off instead of staying under the meat and the burger cooks in its own fat.
People who need a press that stays cool in hand, because stainless and cast-iron presses can get hot without an insulated handle.

Something this thin is only smashing down the patty, it's not creating a seared crust on the top. I agree with the other comment that a similarly priced cast iron option is a better addition to your kitchen

It's got good weight too for steak, etc. Not to smash, but to sear after sous vide.
I use it with a cast iron pan as well, which has doubled in cost: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0000CF66W
