I personally got this exact pair of shoes a year ago and use it mainly for social events and occasional work trips. They are still in like new condition and I'm certain I can get at least another 5 years out of them at the very least. I agree on the negative environmental impacts when it ends up in a landfill, but it works well for people like me who do not want to pay a steeper upfront cost for full-grain leather shoes. Also, these shoes are more comfortable than my Edmond Allens when it comes to a full day of walking around.

These cheap disposable shoes are made of plastic and end up in a landfill after a year, then you buy another and start over. Way worse for the environment (and animals) than buying a pair of real full grain leather shoes once and using them for decades.

Not oxfords, definitely derby. Shoes are not both Oxford and derby - those are contradicting features on the area where the shoe laces.

These look like a nice middle ground between dress shoes and sneakers. Could be handy for work if you want something a little more comfortable than regular oxfords.

You nailed it. I have a few pairs and they are perfect for what you noted. I actually have received multiple compliments on them. No one is expecting them to be featured in GQ magazine or worn at black tie events.
