This bundle pairs a standard Xbox Wireless Controller with $50 in Microsoft account credit, making it most useful if you already wanted both a controller and store credit. The controller is praised as one of the better budget options for PC and for how it fits in hand, and the gift card can be used on Microsoft Store purchases like apps or a Surface. The main drawback is recurring stick drift, with some also noting button wear and limited repairability on newer Series controllers. A solid value if the credit fits your plans.

  • Gamers replacing a worn controller, because the bundle is a decent buy when you already planned to get a Microsoft controller.

  • Microsoft Store shoppers who will use account credit on apps or hardware, because the gift card goes to a Microsoft account and can fund store purchases.

  • PC players wanting a familiar first-party pad, because Xbox controllers are still regarded as among the best reasonably priced options for PC.

  • Players who prefer a controller that fits their hands well, because these controllers sit better in some hands than other options.

  • Competitive players who need long-term reliability, because stick drift can appear after heavy use and eventually make the controller unusable.

  • Buyers expecting face buttons to stay crisp under heavy play, because the buttons can lose sensitivity or fail early.

  • PC handheld owners who need a controller that stays connected wirelessly, because this controller can be finicky with a Legion Go.

  • Players who want repairable hardware, because the Series X design can require soldering to fix stick drift.

Does the Xbox gift card count as general Microsoft credit? i.e., can it be spent on non-Xbox Microsoft purchases?
Yes, the gift cards go to your Microsoft Account so you could put it towards a Surface, or an app on the store, whatever else they sell.

I've never had any trouble with Xbox controllers. These are also still the best reasonably priced controllers you can get for PC.

Got myself the 8BitDo Ultimate 3-mode Wireless Controller for Xbox, Rare 40th Anniversary Edition which contains Hall Effects joysticks to mitigate stick drift and it has some pretty decent quality of life features not found on first party XBox offerings.

I've got two main Xbox Series X controllers (the kind listed here) that I use frequently. One for PC, one for Xbox. I got them at or around Series X launch. After several years of use, neither have stick drift. I'm not saying they can't get it, but don't let others convince you that they definitely WILL get it either.

Decent deal if you were looking to already buy something from Microsoft and don't mind eventual stick drift. It's a shame when 3rd party controllers can outperform them for less money.

Do I need this? My new Xbox Series S/X controller does not stay connected to my Legion Go; it works plugged in sometimes, but it is finicky.

I've bought 5 of these over the years (including the one that came with the console) and the first 3 have developed stick drift. Granted my kids use it for Roblox, but they've also abused the Switch pro controllers over the years and those have never drifted. So I refuse to buy one of these unless it is <= $35.

This is true IME. Controller from 2018 One S is still working but the controller from my 2023 series x has developed stick drift.
Same here

Agree this is a pretty good deal. Yeah, stick drift will eventually be a problem, it's a shame they haven't improved the sticks this generation.

I've had 5 Xbox S/X controllers for 3-4 years without any drift. How common is the issue? Shame they're not all Hall effect joysticks already.

$90 though, but tempting.

Seriously sad that literally everyone has had these controllers break to stick drift. The even worse offense is that they made the X series controllers unfixable without soldering. The old Xbox One controller sensors could be replace without soldering. Right to repair is worth advocating.

Super common man. I literally had a newish controller just do it, just playing regularly no dropping it, no hard pressing.
