This is super amusing. Its pretty obvious what the OS is if you are even only marginally aware of current tech trends. The fun reality is, if you don't know then it's clearly not for you.

the $900 one is not arm (although arm would work great on an android os anyways?) and you are getting a 120hz 3k oled with 16gb ram and 512gb storage, with solid build, plus a pair of perfectly good noise-cancelling earbuds, for $900

i'd say if you're familiar with recent laptops, this is a very good price as long as you trust googlebook OS will work for your use case

I was really hoping for a concurrent AluminiumOS announcement. This basically runs Android, which is mostly a good thing, compared to ChromeOS. This is basically an Android pc that is supposed to be the start of a true Android ecosystem that seamlessly works alongside an Android phone. Unfortunately, Android is not known for good RAM management (compared to Apple), which is why I was hoping for better optimization of software. Also, official apps from many businesses are underdeveloped compared to Apple equivalents. I have hope Google can get their $hit together soon and stop jumping ship on revolutionary features they start working on every year.

It runs Android but has a desktop Chrome browser.

So it's kind of like a bizarro Chromebook which is ChromeOS with desktop Chrome browser and also runs Android apps.

Aluminium is the code name for Googlebook OS, so this is as concurrent as you can get, since it's one and the same.

I agree. I was shocked to see them under 1k. Although Acer did say this is a promo price for the Acer 14. Not sure if that's true but the other 3 or 4 are $1199 plus with same specs pretty much

Both are good options. i'd lean towards the snapdragon with 12 cores instead of intel's 8. you don't have to worry about compatability issues here like you would on a windows laptop, and snapdragon will simply be faster with better battery life as well (especially on the xps, which is non-oled). i really think you can't go wrong with either choice though.

Sorry, I should have clarified that I was hoping there would be an announcement about being able to replace ChromeOS with Googlebook OS on newer models of Chromebooks.

I wonder if steam OS could be put on it in the future seeing how they have an arm in the steam frame? I would definitely want this laptop with steam OS especially with one year of nvida.
