This one seems to be selling from Walmart? The last deal (same price and specs) was being sold by a 3rd party seller and I bought it -- big mistake. There was a dead (stuck) pixel right in the center of the screen and a noisy fan. The seller didnt care (they said they had no record of my order.. which has to be fraud). And Walmart wasnt able to process my return. I made like 7 different trips to 2 different Walmarts. MSI said they dont care about a single dead pixel and I'd have to pay for that repair but would fix the fan. Just a bad experience. When you're spending like $1600 including taxes, this is not what I was going for.
So that was my experience, just FYI. Just make sure its not a 3rd party seller. I will never buy anything big from Walmart again, at least now I'm hesitant to.

It's gonna be half the price of this laptop to upgrade to 64gb in today's memory price

This MSI Vector 16 HX AI stands out as a relatively affordable way to get an RTX 5070 Ti in a full power gaming laptop. The upgradeable memory and extra NVMe slot help soften the stock 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD limits, and the price looks strong versus higher tier MSI models. The main knocks are the 68 percent sRGB screen, the small SSD for game installs, and concern about refurbished or third party seller units. It is a solid desktop replacement if display quality and storage are not the priority.

Common Questions (4)

  • For pure gaming, 16GB RAM is generally enough right now, but the 512GB SSD fills up quickly if you install a lot of games. The laptop also has another NVMe slot, so storage can be expanded later.

  • Yes, the RAM appears upgradeable and support for up to 64GB is mentioned. That makes it a better fit if you want to move beyond the stock 16GB later.

    Enlightened0n3Enlightened0n3

  • The RTX 5070 Ti at this price is considered hard to find, even with the 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD drawbacks. It is positioned as a strong value if you want a desktop-replacement gaming laptop.

    xxdetahxEnlightened0n3

  • No, the display is reported to be one of the weaker parts of the laptop, with 68% sRGB coverage cited as a downside. That means colors can look less vibrant than on higher-gamut panels.

Better deals on MSI laptops at Woot today: https://computers.woot.com/plus/m...=w_gw_dd_3
None of those "deals" are as good as this brand new RTX 5070 Ti 12GB laptop for $1,399 imo.

I saw 5080 models for as low as $2k with 16gb ram but you can get 32gb ram models for $2100-2300. It looks like a few people pulled the trigger on the 5090 for $3300. Refurbished is a concern but for a relatively new model it seems more like open box returns within 30 days of purchase.

It's refurbished, a big minus, but with a 6 month warranty. With tax that's ~$270 more, for most people.
I would only consider it if the warranty can be extended for an additional year.

Since that's very unlikely, personally I would avoid buying the refurb model.

In addition, much higher native resolution 2560x1600 on this gaming laptop means much lower frame rates in games.
2560x1600 is even higher than 1440p resolution. (2560x1440)

Lower resolutions on the refurb will result in increased frame rates, but may not look as good as its native resolution.
I am thinking about it because Amex Platinum will extend any warranty from the manufacturer, which this one has, for refurbished products. But to most people the main consideration is the RAM/SSD: 32 GB DDR5 laptop RAM costs at least $400 these days and 16x2 or better is the only way to upgrade from the stock 8x2.

If you're certain Amex Platinum will extend the warranty for at least one year, one of those might make sense.

If the serial number is not logged already then you should be able to extend the warranty via MSI as well. I was able to do this on a preowned Claw 8ai+ to rectify a hardware defect that required some module replacement.

Looks nice but out of my budget. But I just saw this: https://slickdeals.net/f/20049321-gigabyte-gaming-a16-pro-laptop-intel-core-7-240h-16gb-x-2-32gb-ram-1tb-ssd-geforce-rtx-5080-ips-165hz-titanium-black-dyhg5uscc4sh-1799-00?attrsrc=JFYCarousel%3APosition%3A5%7CJFYCarousel%3AType%3Athread&src=jfy_carousel

5080 for $1800 but it and the CPU are the low power versions—thin and light and efficient but not the same beef as the full power ones.

Be aware that this has one of the worst screens you can get on a laptop at 68% sRGB.

Determine if the "beef" and/or extra VRAM are necessary in your use cases. nod
