Otherwise costco wins on price still
ECOS Free & Clear is gentle and affordable, but its cleaning performance is weak. In Jeeves NY's testing, the hypoallergenic formula scored only 3.1/100 for cleaning—among the poorest tested. Its strengths are:
Good option for sensitive skin
Plant-derived ingredients and relatively favorable safety profile
Very inexpensive—about 10¢ per load
Clear HDPE bottle that is easy to recycle
The main drawback is that it may not remove body oils, food, stains, or heavy soil effectively. It can be adequate for lightly worn clothing, but for everyday laundry—especially towels, underwear, workout clothes, or stained items—I'd choose a stronger fragrance-free detergent. Keep it away from children because it contains phenoxyethanol.
