Now they taste like a gas station self-serve "chocolate drink" mixed from old water and cheap powder.

As someone that has bought a ton of protein drinks on sale over the years, I remember these being mid. Macros are mid. Taste mid. If they changed the formula, who knows? Slick deal at ~$1.10/serving.
Boost at ~$0.80/serving was the best overall taste/macros/value. Protein2o at ~$1.25/serving was my favorite mid-day, as they had a caffeine boost - healthier than an energy drink. But it looks like both of those are overpriced at the moment.
