Something is going wrong on many college campuses in the last few years. Rates of anxiety, depression, and suicide are rising. Speakers are shouted down. Students and professors say they are walking on eggshells and afraid to speak honestly. How did this happen?

I have both of these dudes in my circle on Facebook and they are the definition of people who seek data to fit their hypothesis rather than the other way around. And then a lot of people who already have that idea themselves read the book and think "My God, I was right all along, who knew you could cherry pick studies to show what you wanted as long as you ignored all the studies that disagreed with you!".
That being said, they are better than most of the cancel culture pearl clutchers about sometimes caring when it's the right doing it, but these two know who buys their books and so they spend more time being worried about the evils of "college kids don't like conservatives" instead of "the government is using the FTC to actively aggressively police the speech of news they don't like".
I'd personally recommend "The Crowd", by Gustave Le Bon. Written over a hundred years ago, and still as relevant today. Especially with recent changes in the US political landscape.
the hatred toward this book is kind of insane. it's truly not partisan at all. the entire premise is that there was a sudden and noticeable change in young people, starting in the mid 2010s, that suddenly they are suffering from crippling anxiety, using words like 'unsafe' otherwise perfectly safe things, have an inability to be criticized, etc. The antidote to all that is not put so much pressure on kids, let them fall / get hurt as kids, engage in free play where they learn to cooperate with others and regulate their social behavior, don't assume the worst in people & situations, don't catastrophize relatively unordinary, normal occurrences, etc. it was really eye opening and something that could be useful to anyone.
the misinterpretation of and hatred towards this book & its co-authors is sort of proving their point lol.
Excellent book and must-read for everybody, but it is a bit too focused on brainwashing by contemporary education. For a deeper understanding, I recommend "The Culture of Narcissism" by Christopher Lasch, written almost 50 years ago.

FTC talking point is the tell, and in favor of corporate monopoly of the airwaves I doubt you'd support if they were on the other side.
No one is watching Boomer tube, rabbit ears tv is a tiny fraction of all media now. OTA broadcast is dominated by one side, and even the fox affiliates are at best centrist, and public broadcasting was simply using public money for political propaganda.
All public Broadcasting sites deleted their comment sections to police the news which is especially grotesque considering their public funding at the time, the nypost got deplatformed for posting a true story, the current head of the NIH Jay Bhattacharya[youtu.be] was also deplatformed for his now vindicated observations during the lockdown.

The only real censorship was from the other side, it was the "whole of society censorship framework [youtube.com]" , complete with Scary Poppins [youtube.com] and her Ministry of Truth and "journalists" taking direction on information control from the Atlantic Council [youtube.com].
One side was consistently working to censor the entire internet [substack.com] to achieve their dream of a one party state [x.com]

The metrics on college kids and free speech support are obviously concerning, its not under dispute, and its nothing to laugh about [fire.org].
