buy a Miele and save yourself the headache. I bought a CVA6800 in 2013 and it's still working. My home has filtered and softened water and I do run the descaling and cleaning cycles as instructed.

Sir (or ma'am) this is a $400 item and you are recommending a $2000 item as an alternative...
What about the 4-500 Phillips units? Miele is a bit of a stretch lol
garbage, my friend threw two of these away and bought a Miele because they were intermittently pulling weak espressos and mushy partial pucks. The problem with the cheaper machines is that they can press proper pucks and pull proper shots...but how consistent and reliable? trust me, randomly having to take it apart, clean it, diagnose problems, and mess with it when you just want a nice cup of coffee or espresso is annoying. it ruins the experience, you never know when it'll mess up, and it's embarrassing when guests are over and everyone is waiting for a coffee.

I also bought a Miele CM5300 (portable countertop version) for my 2nd home in 2019 from Costco for about $1300. No problems and a workhorse. If this one lasts me atleast 15yrs, it comes out to $7.22 per month for a reliable no headache coffee system. Cheaper than Starbucks.
Another thing to note... my father purchased 3 "cheaper" brands over the past 11 years and between replacement costs for each machine, service/maintenances, and wasted time and efforts....he finally caved and bought a Miele earlier this year. Do you know what he said to me? I should have just listened to you and not wasted all the money, time, and frustrations.

There was a thread in Superautomatics on Reddit where a number of people bought these to try and it seemed like most were returned. Just wasn't very good - which at the price point isn't a huge surprise.
