It does but at a very low efficiency, which defeats the purpose of saving money by operating it.At that point you should start the main heating in the home, as the heat pump takes the annual three-month break.

Have another Midea "smart AC" the thing has never remained connected to the internet longer than a day. Google Midea connection issues before buying if smart features are important to you. Luckily, I got mine from Costco so I will be returning it.

actually no it doesn't. the output air is lower temperature than air in the room and if you read the warnings from manufacturer it states using below this temperature can damage the unit. you are correct in stating to use alternate heat source but not due to lower efficiency but due to potential damage and producing NO heat.

Funny how the newer models can delve even deeper into the negatives - here's a Trane heat pump that still works at -20F (-29C)
