If you're getting this for the UV light, keep in mind that it uses a cheaper 395nm LED. For optimal UV effect, a more energetic 365nm LED is preferable (lower wavelength = higher frequency = higher energy). Higher energy means a brighter glow on fluorescent dyes (including dried urine and semen) and faster charging of phosphorescent (glow in the dark) objects. In addition, a 365nm LED produces less visible light so it won't wash out the item you want to glow. See attached slides.

I own a similar light (Warsun T9 Pro) that outputs 365nm UV. It also has a laser pointer. I believe it was only $4 on AliExpress.

I found a very similar light at a local Amazon returns store.. The store was closing so I didn't have a lot of time to decide but I saw it was 40 on Amazon but 10 in the store so I bought it thinking I could still sell it for 20..

I wish it could be an emergency power Bank but other than that I really like it and turned it in to my EDC.

The magnet at the end is super useful.. but I did have to super glue it in place after a few uses.

I can't tell from the pics if mine has a stronger case or it's the same..
And I'm not sure mine flashes red and blue..

But yes I'm pretty impressed by it. It's very handy.

I kind of.. Was too cheap for a ten dollar flash light but this thing is pretty great and I feel it's worth the money.

Forgot to add the strobe mode seems like it's for self defense, it's blinding. Might work on animals too I guess..

Or maybe protection from a gang of older, exhausted ravers who went into hiding after the year 2012 but still prowl the streets at night looking for trouble.

Picked the set of two. I have A BUNCH of flashlights and many from top manufacturers but still haven't found my EDC yet. $18 for (2) lights is worth a peek!

I bought a similar one for 20 bucks but the pocket clip is not deep carry. My biggest gripe. Overall I really like them and the square design fits nicer in my pocket.

It's mostly for alerting people of your location, e.g. to make yourself visible to search and rescue personnel. A strobing light is more visible and uses roughly half the energy of a constant light. That's important if you're lost for a prolonged period.

While it's also great for blinding assailants, the implementation isn't great for that purpose. You have to hold onto the button for a few seconds to make it strobe and those few seconds can be the difference between life and death. Better implementations access strobe by pressing the button twice quickly. But that activates the UV on this model.

What is the practical use of the alternating red/blue flashing light mode? So you can hang that on your car visor and pretend you're a cop? I might be interested in this flashlight if there was a solid red mode that I could use for nighttime hiking or as a bicycle tail light. The red/blue mode is just annoying and wasteful.

Mine doesn't require hold, just the last click past high medium end low

Annoying is the point. Red/blue is used by the police around the world because it's so visible. Flashing red is already often used for non-urgent scenarios, e.g. to mark a construction site or a flat tire. Police need a signal to indicate something urgent and red/blue was chosen for contrast and visibility. In addition, the two colors are visible to people with color blindness to either color. Whether a consumer needs that is debatable but it certainly can be helpful in an emergency scenario.

I'd even argue that a red/blue flash is more useful to the average consumer than a red light. I certainly have never needed red light to preserve night vision. But I do know someone who was saved from a smoky fire because she flashed a red/blue light out her window . Simply flashing red would've been MUCH less visible because the building was surrounded by fire trucks that had red sirens.

Needing to cycle brightness modes is even worse when you're being attacked! I own several EDCs but the one I carry for solo late night walks (I live in NYC) goes immediately to strobe with 2 quick clicks. If I'm walking through a particularly dangerous neighborhood, I have my finger on the button.

Have you considered the Warsun T9 Pro? If you're lucky, you can find it for $4 on AliExpress like I did. It has a laser pointer and 365nm UV LED (much better than the 395nm on this one), as well as a very bright front light and side light, and a red flash.
