it's sad that the cpu is used to be more expensive component than the memory back in the days. now, the tables have turned and it's a pain to buy one because of how much the price difference where you used to buy at a cheaper price.

Closest 2 stores are 8 hours away from me, and next weekend if they still have the bundles I am making the drive for it + gpu.

Pretty clearly the best processor out there right now for a productivity first (but can game well) system, especially at this price (not counting Threadrippers and stuff like that). That said, until September 13 this came with free copies of the new Tomb Raider (Atlantis) and Star War Racer games, and with the $600 bundle from Microcenter got you another free game with the mobo. Not going to move the needle dramatically but a very nice sweetener - got me to jump just before that promotion ended.

Yeah, the math is that buying the bundle is cheaper than buying the Ram+Processor alone. IDK what I am going to do with the extra Gigabyte Mobo I have sitting here, since I already had a barebones ASUS workstation to put it in lol. But yeah, by current numbers the bundles on this processor are a fantastic deal. IDK if they still have them, but a few weeks back they had 32+mobo+Ultra 5 250k for $500. I don't think the extra hundred is worth it for like 90% of users.

Yeah, I mean to beat this in gaming I am pretty sure you have to pay almost the bundle price just for an AMD 3D variant, and a relatively high end one at that. And inr eturn you are going to get sub 10% better numbers. This is the first incredibly compelling processor from Intel in a long time.
