It endlessly amazes me that customers consent to allow these gigantic corporations to scream their brand names on clothing and shoes. Even socks need to whine about getting noticed too. It's amazingly tacky and needy.

Some cowboy from a time travel machine would arrive from the 1800s and say, "so in the future, people put other people's names on themselves?"

I think there are one million things a cowboy from the 1800s would comment about before he even noticed a word on a shoe.

Yep, and nothing is more emasculating than a man wearing another man's name branded across his body.

And to make it even better lets make mens shoes bright pink or orange or purple color! Or better yet, all of them together!!

Merrell has 250-600 employees. Is that a gigantic corporation? It is owned by a larger company whose name is not on the shoes. I do get your point though and would prefer a logo compared with a giant brand name. Humans seem to love associating themselves with a "cool brand" in this case you are supposedly an "outdoorsy" type person.

normally I would agree with you but for purpose-made sports equipment I'll give it a pass. these are trail running specific shoes, not meant for causual wear. more like riding a mountain bike with a big logo on the side vs wearing a North Face hoodie around town.
