This cordless fuel transfer pump is best for moving gas from heavy cans into small tanks without lifting and spilling. It can deliver a steady flow, and that makes it handy for generators, mowers, ATVs, and awkward fill locations. The intake is large, so it barely fits a normal gas can and is too wide for most car filler necks, though it may work better with diesel openings. The pump also lacks speed control, auto shutoff can be finicky, and similar units have been reported to leak near the battery over time, so it suits simple transfer jobs more than precision use.

Common Questions (4)

  • Usually not. Newer cars often have a screen or anti-siphon device in the filler neck, and the pump's intake is reported to be too large for a normal gas fill neck; it may fit a diesel fill neck instead.

  • It is best suited for moving fuel from a gas can or 5-gallon tank into smaller tanks, generators, mowers, or similar equipment. It can make heavy cans easier to empty without lifting and can help with tight fill openings that splash when poured by hand.

  • It can leave a noticeable amount of fuel at the bottom of the can, and similar pumps reportedly start leaking from the top near the battery after extended use. That makes it more of a temporary tool than a long-term one.

  • Only if the pump is designed for flammable liquids; an electric pump that is not intrinsically safe can be a fire hazard with gasoline. That safety rating matters because the motor and battery are used right next to fuel vapors.

So say I left gas in a generator for multiple years (but never ran it)...can this help me pull that gas out so I can put in clean gas and have my generator (which has never been started) start up?
Crack the cap and it will evaporate.

What adapter to siphon from newer cars. Seems powerful enough. Is it quiet? Just curious

For no particular reason... can this get gas out of cars?
If you check the first picture, the car isn't needed.

I have a few similar pumps. They work well for a while but all eventually start leaking fuel out of the top part that sits on the can, near the battery. They're pretty much a disposable item.

I have an identical pump from a different seller. Works well to fill smaller tanks from a 5 gal tank. I wish it had a control to slow down the pump, though. You probably wouldn't use this to fill a car and when I use it to fill my generator or excavator, I've got to be super careful... too close to the screen on the small tank's fill port and you get splash back that then shuts off the pump. Too far away and it won't auto shut off when full. Still better than lifting a full 5 gal tank and pouring into a small opening, especially if it's in an awkward spot (under the seat of my excavator for example).

This might be a stupid question, but will this run on 12 V if I solder in the wires? So I could run it off my car battery? I don't care if it's slower I just don't have an 18 V battery of any kind or a tool that uses it.

that would be a waste of money, turn the fuel off, pull the fuel line off the carb and drain it that way. take it from a guy that has fixed hundreds of generators.

Keep in mind that an electric pump that isn't "intrinsically safe" presents a fire hazard when used with flammable liquids like gas.
18v Battery pump isn't making any sparks. you have no idea what you're talking about.

Golly, Was it that long ago that companies took pride in the products they produced and us consumers could be assured? It's apparent our naive consumerism currently allows worthless crap to reach the market and be purchased. May our ignorant rush for bargins be rewarded by our errors. Good luck on that exchange for a "replacement" of equal quality.
I have been using one of these for over a year....
