Evo released April 2026, update on Ti 84 CE plus.

Unfortunately they gimped it, but it's ok. Between that and NumWorks Calculator, that will depend on school and teacher's preferences on which u buy.

Ti 84 evo was $74, then $80, guess amazon determined $88 is the right spot. I wish it was $74-$80, that to me is an ok price. Above that is stretching it it since nobody really need these calculators. But everyone should learn how to operate calculators if need be.

It's only "gimped" or "not as good" in that the Evo isn't compatible with existing third-party TI-84 games and apps. The Evo is much better hardware, and third-party stuff will eventually be ported over if there's interest.

hmm... my 27 year old ti-83+ finally has the screen going bad... wondering if the 84 will be an easy transition... are the buttons and functions roughly in the same place?

You got a lot of options. I noticed at walmart in store the other day they had TI 83+ for 53 dollars new on clearance, i guess maybe they are getting rid of them. But also on ebay i noticed graphic calculators prices fell dramatically, plenty of near mint ones for very reasonable costs. or this 84 evo which would be rechargable, way faster graphing, backlit color screen but not be able to run any specialized software you were using. The menu structure should be very similar to what youre used to. I actually dont really need or want a backlit screen, rather just use regular batteries, they last a year or more, i still have my old calculators but thats just me. I dont do any complex calculations anyways

Ya i barely use any functions on the calculator anymore, but because I have been using a TI-83+ for... a very very long time... I wanted to make sure the stuff i do use is in the same place since it is basically muscle memory when i need something

Forgot what model I was using (maybe 89?) and the fact that COS and SIN were moved from primary buttons to 2nd functions .. no bueno.
