These Wolverine work hiker boots stand out as a waterproof, wide work boot that can feel comfortable enough for long shifts when paired with good insoles. The wide toe box and fit policy are useful for concrete-heavy days, and older Wolverine pairs are remembered for thick leather, Vibram soles, and Goodyear welt construction. The main concern is consistency, since recent pairs are described as stiff, uncomfortable, and less durable, with some arch collapse or early wear. A practical option if fit and break in go well.

Common Questions (4)

  • They can be comfortable for some feet, especially with a wide toe box and good insoles, but others report stiffness and pain after a full day. Several comments recommend trying them on first because fit and arch shape matter a lot.

  • Durability is reported as decent at the $65 price, with some pairs lasting years and holding up well, but newer pairs are also described as wearing out quickly or having collapsing arches. Older Wolverine boots are described as much better built than recent ones.

  • Yes. The boots are described as very stiff with little flex, and fit varies enough that trying them on for 5-10 minutes or wearing them around the house is recommended to judge the break-in and return them if needed.

  • At $65 they are considered a reasonable buy for a waterproof work boot, especially if you need a wide fit. The tradeoff is that longevity and comfort can be inconsistent, so the value depends on whether they fit your foot and workload.

I've had my tactical wolverine boots for over 8 years now and it's very uncomfortable but is still in pretty awesome shape. I recommend getting some insoles

I'll bite; it is good to know that their fit policy sounds good and hopefully I won't have to return. This seems like a good price for a waterproof boot that's also wide. I've worn merrells as my regular winter shoe and have had mixed results with their quality. Hopefully I get similar or better out of this one or know when I get it that it clearly should be returned lol

So from all your experience, what brand(s) would you recommend? I'm looking for a steel toe that will be comfortable for 8+ hours on my feet .
I'm on concrete 10+ hours a day and I'm a chonky boy. In my opinion it's all about the wide toe box and a good pair of insoles like cruvheal.

Rocky, Steel Blue, and Ariat are a few brands with wider toe boxes.

They're OK at this price point, but they do not last and the arch will collapse if you are heavy or have flat feet.

When it comes to work boots, especially if your employer will pay for them, go with what's comfortable and will last.

I recommend Danner's; I've had one pair since 2001 (yes, really); just take care of them - clean, wash, dry, oil.

EW width was available - are you saying that their wide isn't wide enough or that their regular width isn't wide enough?

Bought these not expecting much. Pleasantly surprised at the comfort & durability. Ugly as sin but they last quite a bit for the price.
Same. Have a pair, they exceeded my expectations for the cost. I think I got them slightly cheaper but it's been a year so the new price tracks.
