With every foot and arch different some will love a pair others will curse it. Go and get fitted try on many and for at least 5-10 mins while your foot molds to the bed. Almost all insoles and foot beds have break-in period while your foot adjust.
If you don't like a brand or the way it fits, you probably tried in the wrong size or that boot/shoe isn't the shape for your foot. I have several pairs of wolverines, redwings, Salomon, merrels, dr martins, adidas, Nike, converse. I have a couple I rotate out for work being on my feet 50 hours a week.
I know by the end of that first week if those boots are gonna keep up and hold up to my line of work in automotive field. I've tried on hundreds of boots last few years and never found that perfect one but I have a few that are good enough and for the price get me a few years for work that's acceptable. Less places offer doing a retread and repair. For the cost it's cheaper to buy a new set and run them till the treads gone or the arch fails.
Over 20 years in same industry and i know what works for me. Just not so easy to find one that stacks up. Everyone's got different needs so only way to know is go try them on, get the correct size or if you can't, order a pair and see how they work out. Wear them around in the house and you'll be able to return, exchange for what might work better. Cheers!
These Wolverine work hiker boots stand out as a waterproof, wide work boot that can feel comfortable enough for long shifts when paired with good insoles. The wide toe box and fit policy are useful for concrete-heavy days, and older Wolverine pairs are remembered for thick leather, Vibram soles, and Goodyear welt construction. The main concern is consistency, since recent pairs are described as stiff, uncomfortable, and less durable, with some arch collapse or early wear. A practical option if fit and break in go well.
Workers on concrete shifts who need a wide toe box, because the fit can stay comfortable for 10-hour days when paired with good insoles.
People who prioritize long-wearing construction over looks, because one pair stayed in good shape after eight years and another lasted years of heavy use.
Workers who need all-day comfort straight out of the box, because the sole can feel very stiff and the boots can be so uncomfortable they hurt after a full shift.
They can be comfortable for some feet, especially with a wide toe box and good insoles, but others report stiffness and pain after a full day. Several comments recommend trying them on first because fit and arch shape matter a lot.
Durability is reported as decent at the $65 price, with some pairs lasting years and holding up well, but newer pairs are also described as wearing out quickly or having collapsing arches. Older Wolverine boots are described as much better built than recent ones.
Yes. The boots are described as very stiff with little flex, and fit varies enough that trying them on for 5-10 minutes or wearing them around the house is recommended to judge the break-in and return them if needed.
At $65 they are considered a reasonable buy for a waterproof work boot, especially if you need a wide fit. The tradeoff is that longevity and comfort can be inconsistent, so the value depends on whether they fit your foot and workload.
so damn uncomfortable. If you want comfort, go with Keen, Danner or Merrill.
Thanks, I was looking for a reference to their comfort. But I've never had a comfortable pair of Merrell's so if you consider them more comfortable than these, these will likely destroy my feet.

the pair of Wolverine's I tried on at DSW store had a very stiff/ridgid sole with zero flex. Try before you buy.

Over the course of roughly 20+ Years, Quality of Wolverine Boots has gone from 5***** to YMMV. U could end up with a Really Fantastic Pair or just something which literally Shreds your Skin

So from all your experience, what brand(s) would you recommend? I'm looking for a steel toe that will be comfortable for 8+ hours on my feet .

The boots can feel comfortable and durable for the price point.
The wide toe box and added insoles can help comfort during long concrete shifts.
The boots may hold up for years in some work use cases, even if comfort is lacking.
The boots can be workable for heavy-duty jobs when proper fit and break-in are managed.
Quality can be inconsistent, including reports of pairs falling apart or shredding skin.
The boots can be very uncomfortable and may cause foot pain after a full workday.
Durability can decline, with some pairs reportedly lasting only about six months at work.
The sole can feel stiff with zero flex, which makes trying them on important.
