This is a portable capture card and secondary dock for Switch 2, Steam Deck, and similar USB C setups. It can feed a Steam Deck or Switch 2 into another screen, and PD passthrough still charges a laptop at about 65W while in use. The computer connection uses the USB Type A port, and a USB 3 Type A to Type A cable is needed to avoid USB 2 speeds. Switch 2 firmware changes and the device's nonintuitive setup are the main cautions, making it best for flexible travel use.

  • The capture card can work with Nintendo Switch 2 for video capture output.

  • The card can support high frame-rate capture modes when paired with a USB 3 Type-A to Type-A cable.

  • The USB-C PD passthrough can provide around 65W charging while the capture card is in use.

  • The 2-in-1 capture card and portable dock design can function as a secondary dock for travel or another room.

  • Switch 2 VRR v23 firmware can break some USB-C and HDMI dock devices that rely on dock functionality.

  • Switch 2 firmware updates can make dock or capture functionality unusable until non-intuitive flashing steps are performed.

  • OBS may fail to detect the capture card and may only show a Virtual OBS Device depending on the setup.

  • The device may require USB-C based output and may not work directly with camcorders that output via FireWire, composite, or component.

Could/should I use this to pull old HD video from a Sony HDV (cassette) camcorder? I need to digitize, it has HDMI output. Thanks AV club

Has anyone tested this with a switch 2? It seems like a lot of these types of devices end up not being compatible with switch 2. Thanks

I bought one last week - interesting device, not too intuitive to use. As a capture card the output for the computer is the USB Type A port, all the type Cs are for Nintendo Switch and power.

Be careful picking up any third party stuff for Switch 2 if it's dock related right now.

The new VRR v23 firmware update to Switch 2 breaks some USBC and HDMI dock devices. Some will require firmware updates that they may never get.

why do you need this for a switch 2? Doesnt this do what the dock does?

This could be good for a dock that is you might want in a different location from your main location or as a travel dock.

Could also risk bricking the switch 2 I heard. I just hate how stingy Nintendo has gotten, I had an adapter for my switch 1 that's alot more portable than the dock.

My use case is to connect my steam deck to my ipad pro 13". That will let me play my steam deck on the ipad screen so i dont have to purchase or carry around an external screen for flights or vacation type car rides.

I'd imagine you can do the same with the Switch 2
