Please note that this is a 12V system, not a 20V. FYI, DeWalt's 12V line is not officially discontinued, but the company has stopped active development 12v line and is no longer releasing new products for it (as for now).

it's a brilliant line, more than capable for most.

from what i can tell they might have stopped developing, but they are still actively producing 12v tools and batteries. so it's still a supported line. but let me know if you have any sources that show otherwise

Yes, you're right. DeWalt is still manufacturing 12V tools and providing customer support until an official announcement is made, but their R&D is focusing on the 20V and Atomic line tools.

The 12v is just great. Light weight, great ergonomics and more than enough. Too bad it didn't get a wider adoption. People need to stop watching those ridiculous videos about which tool is more powerful with 0 real world application use.

Got this back in the summer for $79 from Lowe. Got a 3Ah battery on Whatnot for $23. Not bad. It really does need another or preferably a 5Ah in addition.

But people probably shouldn't plan on real production work or framing with this. Easy small one-off's off overage on decking, door jamb, chair rail, trailing OSB. Or personally mostly for overhead cuts in ceilings, on ladders, etc.

Might be okay for small projects for the occasional weekend DIY job. But for people who use their tools frequently for bigger projects, the 12v isnt nearly enough. For the price different and flexibility, the 20v stuff is LOADS better.
