Just so I'm understanding this correctly, if I cancel within 3 days, I won't get charged an activation fee but I will get levied prorated charges for how many ever days the line was active, right?

Yeah, and Verizon is not charging any activation fee right now so you don't get charged for that either. This is mentioned in the same webpage

PSA: Spring for the 512GB+ versions to get the full 16GB of RAM. 256GB 11 Pro/XL only comes with 12GB.

Verizons unlock policy got updated in February. New phones are locked until the term has been completed.

Verizon devices have permanently locked bootloader which is a major issue (for some) as that kills any possibly of installing custom roms like lineage or graphene os (which is one of the usp of normal pixel devices)

Tempting but it's a little risky whether a pay-in-full promo purchase unlocks the phone immediately, and whether cancelling the line affects the discount.

Prepaid Device Unlocking Policy:

Devices purchased from us will remain locked to the network until the completion of 365 days of paid and active service. After 365 days of paid and active service, we will automatically remove the lock unless the device is deemed stolen or purchased fraudulently.

Is this true? This us written in t&c

Aren't you still going to pay for full month? So $30 (port in) or $45 (new number) should be added.

That might not matter as much on the 11/Pro, since apparently Google messed with or hid MTE. (Latest word is that Graphene may have discovered a workaround?) Either way, it's a potentially troubling sign of things to come. At least the Moto partnership is happening come 2027...

Regardless, most people interested in installing a custom ROM should probably wait a few months after a phone's release to ensure it actually gets custom ROM support (and doesn't totally suck). Would hate to buy a phone expecting custom ROM support, only to find out it won't happen...

Is this deal dead? I saw it on the Verizon site not even 30 minutes ago, but it isn't showing up anymore for me.

Update: Cleared cookies/cache and it showed up again. Odd...

From Verizon return policy: "If you received promotional value when trading a device, and/or instant savings towards the purchase of a new device at the time of your trade, you agree that you will be charged for these values if you do not maintain active service on your new device for three billing cycles."

I suspect Verizon will claw back the discount.

https://www.verizon.com/about/con...ing-policy

Postpay Device Unlocking Policy

Devices purchased directly from Verizon are locked to our network. Devices will be unlocked automatically when purchased at full retail price or if the device financing agreement balance is paid in full.
Note: Devices previously reported as lost or stolen will not be unlocked until they are cleared from the lost or stolen report. Once a device is unlocked, Verizon will never re-lock it.

A secure payment method is required to unlock a device immediately when paying the full device balance. If a Verizon Gift Card is used to purchase a smartphone or pay off a remaining balance, the unlocking process will be delayed by 35 days. This window allows for the verification of the gift card's funds to ensure they were not obtained through fraudulent or illegal means

No, see the comment above. Once you pay in full which is what you are doing in this case device will be unlocked.
