This Verizon Pixel 11 Pro deal is mainly about getting a heavily discounted flagship and then verifying carrier unlock after activation. The strongest upside is the low out of pocket price, with store pickup and immediate activation often leading to an unlocked phone that works with Google Fi, Mint, T Mobile, or other eSIMs. The main catch is Verizon's confusing unlock behavior, since some units stay locked for hours or days and the bootloader remains permanently locked. Cancellation usually needs chat or phone support, and full month bills or prorated charge adjustments can take follow up.

  • Shoppers planning to use Google Fi or another non-Verizon eSIM, because multiple reports say the phone works once carrier unlock is confirmed.

  • Buyers comfortable activating first and then canceling the line, because several reports show same-day cancellation with only prorated service charges.

  • In-store pickup buyers who want the safest unlock path, because pickup reports repeatedly show the phone unlocking immediately after activation.

  • Pixel buyers who want a flagship Android with a clean OS and regular updates, because commenters say custom ROMs are unnecessary for everyday use.

  • Custom ROM enthusiasts who need an unlockable bootloader, because Verizon units are reported to keep the bootloader permanently locked.

  • Buyers expecting immediate carrier unlock from a shipped order, because shipped units are repeatedly reported as staying locked until later verification or a wait period.

  • People who need to move an existing eSIM quickly, because several reports say eSIM transfer can fail or require extra carrier steps even when the phone is unlocked.

  • Shoppers who cannot tolerate Verizon billing cleanup, because canceled lines can still generate full-month bills that require follow-up chat to correct.

VERIZON refuses to unlock the phone. has any one successfully unlocked the phone please share the procedure
You don't need to ask Verizon to unlock the phone. Once you activate the phone it will get unlocked automatically. You can then verify by downloading a Google Fi trail eSIM for free and check. As Fi uses T-Mobile network, it can only work if the phone is unlocked. Also Google for steps to see available mobile network under connections, if that shows all carriers instead of only verizon then also it's unlocked.

I am seeing Sales tax is $100+ in California.. is it being charged for full price of 1K+ ?
DECADES ago... California changed the laws because too many phones were being 'sold' as free... First with rebates, and a thousand hoops, then later, INSTANT rebates... So all of a sudden, California was left not getting their piece of the retail pie... They whined, they moaned, and they changed the law, so now taxes are assessed on the FULL RETAIL PRICE of the phone, regardless of it's cost to the consumer (or final cost)... Consumer, not retailer foots that bill by the way... So, even if your phone is $0 otd, you pay taxes on full retail and CA gets their pound of flesh.

Good news, I can confirm that this phone is unlocked after initial activation, no need to contact Verizon, got it working without the need to contact Verizon. What didn't worked: transfer esim from old phone/use "add new esim"/ manually adding the new imei number to replace my old one. What's worked: ask Metro to provision my new esim based on the imei of the old phone/ I used the generic QR (as mentioned before) using the phone camera, it detected the metro plan and added it, phone calls, texts, Internet all working!!! I'll try the line deactivation tomorrow and reportUpdate: was managed to contact an agent and cancel the line, couldn't waived the 50$ first month bill, but otherwise, no hidden bills, maybe others could be luckier, however, even with that, still a very good deal
You should be able to cancel the line immediately instead of end of month and the bill would be in only prorated charges for couple of days. Did you check it the line is already disconnected. If so when the bill comes you can chat with them and get charges waived.

I asked politely to disconnect, they didn't mention the option for immediate deactivation, I kept the transcript, should I ask for immediate deactivation?

Yes, be polite but firm. Point to the Verizon return policy if you have to

https://www.verizon.com/support/return-policy/ under standard account disconnection

" You may terminate service for any reason. You will remain responsible for your Activation Fee unless you terminate service within 3 days of activation.

You will also be responsible for all applicable usage fees, prorated access charges, taxes, surcharges or other charges that accrued to your account through the termination date. If you paid a security deposit, it may take between 30 and 60 days to process the return of your security deposit. The charges for any service used on the account before the service termination date may be applied against your security deposit."

How do i cancel the monthly Plan - Verizon Simplicity Plan - i was told this by verizon

If you get the Simplicity Plan, you should be able to finance the phone in 24, 36, or 48, plus the price of the plan for $30/month with autopay and the switch discount. Since you would like to give a down payment on the device, it would depend on the amount of months you would like it to stay active. So you would have to divide the rest of the device payment, $620.99 by the months total. If it is 24 month would be $25.87 plus the $30. If it is 36 months it would be $17.24 plus $30/month Simplicity Plan. And Finally if it is 48 months it would be $25.87 plus the $30. If it is 36 months it would be $12.94 plus $30/month Simplicity Plan. If you would like me I can send you the contact info to our sales department, so you are able to start with the new account process. Would you like me to do so?

Should I activate the device with the number and then cancel within 3 days, or just cancel the line without activating at all?

worked easy for me.

  1. buy phone to pick up in store.
  2. activate phone with verizon. Create account.
  3. verizon account says phone is unlocked.
  4. Test with google FI esim, all good.
  5. Chat with Verizon AI bot and request "agent".
  6. Tell agent service at home and at work is poor. Ask for immediate disconnect of the line.
  7. Agents confirms yes immediate disconnect and also emails me disconnect details showing effective day today.
  8. Transfer esim from my current service to the phone.
  9. Message my credit card company to tell them I "lost" my credit card and need a new one. If there's any Verizon clawback, this should perhaps prevent it.

Yep, this is the way. Also, check out privacy.com and you create credit cards on the fly with limits. I created one with a $510 limit and only one-time use, so that got charged and that's what I used so nothing's ever linked back to my real credit card.

You chat with the agent and cancel the line. You have already paid for the device so no need to talk about that. See the steps mentioned by someone couple of posts before.

I forgot about this. Citi credit cards actually have this feature built in. you can generate credit cards with limits and expiration dates. I use it anytime I subscribe something to try out so they can't charge me again if I forget to cancel. I use this a lot for fabletics clothes. I use their initial promo pricing and then let the subscription expire because they can't charge me.

Any issues with picking this up? Do store employees try to upsell and make it unpleasant or is it a simple pick up?

I'm not sure how or why they'd claw back anything. It says right on the Verizon account that the device is fully paid off and eligible for an upgrade, and the receipt stapled to my bag from store pickup shows "Disc -$620". I'm not worried about them trying to claw back personally, and if you do owe a debt and you block the payment, it doesn't mean you no longer owe.
