Visit the deal page on a desktop browser. Also do store pick up if possible to get the phone unlocked right away otherwise you might have to wait for 35 days for unlock.
You can select new customer and pay in full to get the $480 price. You can then select simplicity plan. Once you get the phone you can just cancel the line. Verizon unlocking policy states the devices are unlocked immediately if you pay in full. Their cancellation policy states no activation fee within 3 days and then only prorated charges if you cancel your line within 30 days.
***You might have to wait for 35 days before the phone is unlocked if you don't do store pickup in person as Verizon considers their online store purchase with delivery not secure. You can cancel your line nonetheless as the device will still unlock automatically after 35 days****

This Verizon Pixel 11 Pro deal is mainly about getting a heavily discounted flagship and then verifying carrier unlock after activation. The strongest upside is the low out of pocket price, with store pickup and immediate activation often leading to an unlocked phone that works with Google Fi, Mint, T Mobile, or other eSIMs. The main catch is Verizon's confusing unlock behavior, since some units stay locked for hours or days and the bootloader remains permanently locked. Cancellation usually needs chat or phone support, and full month bills or prorated charge adjustments can take follow up.
Shoppers planning to use Google Fi or another non-Verizon eSIM, because multiple reports say the phone works once carrier unlock is confirmed.
Buyers comfortable activating first and then canceling the line, because several reports show same-day cancellation with only prorated service charges.
In-store pickup buyers who want the safest unlock path, because pickup reports repeatedly show the phone unlocking immediately after activation.
Pixel buyers who want a flagship Android with a clean OS and regular updates, because commenters say custom ROMs are unnecessary for everyday use.
Custom ROM enthusiasts who need an unlockable bootloader, because Verizon units are reported to keep the bootloader permanently locked.
Buyers expecting immediate carrier unlock from a shipped order, because shipped units are repeatedly reported as staying locked until later verification or a wait period.
People who need to move an existing eSIM quickly, because several reports say eSIM transfer can fail or require extra carrier steps even when the phone is unlocked.
Shoppers who cannot tolerate Verizon billing cleanup, because canceled lines can still generate full-month bills that require follow-up chat to correct.

From what I understand, if you pay the phone off in full and cancel the line within 3 days, the phone becomes fully yours, gets unlocked, and there are no further payments due after the line is canceled. Is that correct? Please correct me if I'm wrong.
On another note, I'm not sure the screen showing Verizon's number when adding an eSIM will ever go away. I had a Visible Pixel 10 that showed that screen even after unlocking. On that screen, there should be an option at the bottom to "add a different SIM", or something like that. But again, that was a slightly different device.
