This Verizon Pixel 11 Pro deal is mainly about getting a heavily discounted flagship and then verifying carrier unlock after activation. The strongest upside is the low out of pocket price, with store pickup and immediate activation often leading to an unlocked phone that works with Google Fi, Mint, T Mobile, or other eSIMs. The main catch is Verizon's confusing unlock behavior, since some units stay locked for hours or days and the bootloader remains permanently locked. Cancellation usually needs chat or phone support, and full month bills or prorated charge adjustments can take follow up.

Common Questions (5)

  • Often yes, but not always. Several buyers report the phone becomes carrier-unlocked after activation and can be verified with a non-Verizon eSIM like Google Fi or Mint, while others saw a 35-day hold or had to wait for Verizon support to push the unlock. Store pickup appears to be the most reliable path for immediate unlock.

  • No. Verizon Pixels are reported to have a permanently locked bootloader, which blocks OEM unlocking and custom ROM installs even if the phone is carrier-unlocked. The carrier unlock status and bootloader lock are separate.

  • Test it with a non-Verizon eSIM or SIM, especially a free Google Fi trial eSIM, or check whether multiple carrier networks appear under SIM/network settings. If Fi or another carrier activates, the phone is carrier-unlocked; Verizon's own status page can lag behind or be misleading.

  • Yes, many buyers cancel immediately after activation and report only a small prorated charge, but Verizon may first generate a full-month bill that has to be waived in chat or by phone. The activation fee is waived on this promo, and the line should be disconnected immediately rather than left active until the end of the billing cycle.

  • Yes. Store pickup is repeatedly reported to unlock the phone right away, likely because ID verification makes the purchase count as a secure payment, while shipped orders are the ones more often tied to the 35-day unlock delay or backend unlock requests.

dang people that ordered online have to wait 35 days? whack. MY local store only had black at 256gb. I would prefer other colors but didn't want to deal waiting for the order to ship and this deal to change.
There is no end date if this deal as of now. We are learning in real time how the unlocking works with respect to payment as they changed their policy at the beginning of the year.

If you do this deal do they write anything into your record at Verizon and maybe put you on some sort of blacklist for future deals there?

The 35 day unlock policy for phones being delivered isn't right. 35 days is only if you paid with what Verizon considered as an "unsecure payment."

https://www.verizon.com/about/con...ing-policy

Make sure to chat with them to escalate. I just tried, they told me the same 35 day thing and I pushed on it with the above link and they escalated on it.

Verizon considers online payment through their own portal as unsecure, that's what their CS and backend system believes. When you pick up the phone in store that makes it secure as you are showing up with ID. You can see if escalating helps as they can just send the unlock signal to google. Keep us posted if this works, it is weird that their own website transaction is be considered unsecure. But as it stands now, if you want you device to unlock instantly you have to order online and pick up at a store.

From https://www.verizon.com/business/...ck-device/

What is Verizon's device locking policy?

Beginning on 1/27/2026, devices purchased from Verizon are locked until the full device payment or the terms of your contract are fulfilled. This policy applies to new Verizon smartphones, tablets and feature phones purchased on or after 1/27/2026.
  • Devices purchased at full retail price will be automatically unlocked when paid through a secure payment method:
    • Secure Payments: Cash, credit card with EMV chip1, contactless Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay.
    • Non-secure payments2: Verizon Gift Card, paper check, a bill credit, or a credit card using a magnetic striper or manual entry.

Received my online delivery this morning and the device showed unlocked on the website before activating the device. Bought this as a gift for someone outside the USA and will be sending it next week. My $600 didn't include terms to hold the line for X days. Is it worth deactivating the line today and hoping for $600? Payout shows November 28, 2026.

This is from their Verizon Business site. There are no similar terms for the consumer side, which is what I linked.

Yeah but the definition on secure and non-secure payments are the same for both.

I'd check if the device is actually unlocked before sending it overseas
