Community Reviews

This Verizon Pixel 11 Pro deal is mainly about getting a heavily discounted flagship and then verifying carrier unlock after activation. The strongest upside is the low out of pocket price, with store pickup and immediate activation often leading to an unlocked phone that works with Google Fi, Mint, T Mobile, or other eSIMs. The main catch is Verizon's confusing unlock behavior, since some units stay locked for hours or days and the bootloader remains permanently locked. Cancellation usually needs chat or phone support, and full month bills or prorated charge adjustments can take follow up.

  • eSIM setup can be unreliable, with some devices showing "contact Verizon" errors or failing to add other carrier eSIMs even after activation.

  • Unlock timing can be delayed for shipped orders, with Verizon support sometimes citing a 35-day wait or longer.

  • Verizon Pixels can have a permanently locked bootloader, which prevents custom ROM installs like LineageOS or GrapheneOS.

  • Canceling early can still trigger full-month billing or additional bills that require follow-up chats to waive charges.

From Verizon return policy: "If you received promotional value when trading a device, and/or instant savings towards the purchase of a new device at the time of your trade, you agree that you will be charged for these values if you do not maintain active service on your new device for three billing cycles." I suspect Verizon will claw back the discount.

Click on standard monthly account service termination

You may terminate service for any reason. You will remain responsible for your Activation Fee unless you terminate service within 3 days of activation.

You will also be responsible for all applicable usage fees, prorated access charges, taxes, surcharges or other charges that accrued to your account through the termination date. If you paid a security deposit, it may take between 30 and 60 days to process the return of your security deposit. The charges for any service used on the account before the service termination date may be applied against your security deposit.

If you cancel your service after the 30-day period, but prior to the expiration of your minimum term, you will be responsible for all of the above mentioned charges, including an Early Termination Fee.

This service termination policy does not apply to customers who have purchased a Prepaid Plan.

Aren't you still going to pay for full month? So $30 (port in) or $45 (new number) should be added.
No only prorated number of days.

Simplicity is a Postpaid plan right ? Which means Pay-Full-Price should mean immediate unlocking? What does bootloader locked mean ? The phone cannot be used on any other network ?

FYI for people doing this, Verizon will likely sent you a bill for the whole month when you cancel/open the line. You will have to call/chat with them to get the charges waived. Activation fee won't be charged as per the current promotion. Only thing you have to adjust is the service charges only for number of days the account was active.

Yeah it should be unlocked immediately. Bootloader locked means you cant install a custom Android OS on it.

What did it show? Did you get charge the full amount or discounted price?

lol you don't know the difference between carrier lock and bootloader lock.
The difference is one let's you flash roms and custom OS over. The other is carrier locked. They usually will make you wait 30-60 days before actually unlocking the e sim slot. Little word if advice is, pixel 9 and up do not take physical sims anymore.

No, see the comment above. Once you pay in full which is what you are doing in this case device will be unlocked.
I researched more - now I'm not sure about this, AI points that "online payment" is not a secure payment so it's subject to 35 days holding period.
https://www.verizon.com/business/...ck-device/ mentions "manual entry credit card" (which I guess is what online payment is) as unsecured.
"Secure Payments: Cash, credit card with EMV chip, contactless Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay." - EMV chip makes sense when paying with physical card only.

Though the phone still can be unlocked once the final bill is settled and 35 days have passed.

Since the simplicity plan is postpaid and we're paying it in full, does that mean it's unlocked when we get it?

you can insert physical sim into pixel 9. it's pixel 10 (US market) which does not have sim card slot.

the way I read it - no, as the payment is unsecure.
"What is Verizon's device locking policy" https://www.verizon.com/business/...ck-device/ mandates "secure payment"

For carrier unlocking it's immediate now once the device is paid in full like you are doing here.

Verizons online payment is a secure payment I would assume but it's does not really matter. You can activate the device on Verizon network and it should tag it as fully paid device and unlock. Based on the previous Walmart deals it might be instant or wait for 24 hours.
