Visit the deal page on a desktop browser. Also do store pick up if possible to get the phone unlocked right away otherwise you might have to wait for 35 days for unlock.
You can select new customer and pay in full to get the $480 price. You can then select simplicity plan. Once you get the phone you can just cancel the line. Verizon unlocking policy states the devices are unlocked immediately if you pay in full. Their cancellation policy states no activation fee within 3 days and then only prorated charges if you cancel your line within 30 days.
***You might have to wait for 35 days before the phone is unlocked if you don't do store pickup in person as Verizon considers their online store purchase with delivery not secure. You can cancel your line nonetheless as the device will still unlock automatically after 35 days****

See this thread for more details on Verizon line activation and cancellation. Make sure to open a regular account with Verizon first with email address and passwd. Then add the new line in that account. That allows you to track the cancellation and bill through that account even after the line is removed.

This Verizon Pixel 11 Pro deal is mainly attractive as an upfront discount on a new-line purchase, with store pickup often reported as the smoothest path. The phone is generally carrier unlocked after activation or pickup, and Google Fi or other non Verizon eSIM tests are the usual way to confirm it. The biggest caveat is Verizon's confusing unlock and cancellation behavior, with some orders unlocking immediately and others showing a 35 day wait or needing support. Billing can also be messy, with prorated charges, full month bills, and possible cashback timing issues to watch.
Store pickup can lead to immediate Verizon unlocking after activation, which enables quick eSIM testing with other carriers.
Some buyers report that chat cancellation after activation results in only prorated service charges for a short usage window.
Some experiences show the device status as fully paid and unlocked in Verizon account management, supporting faster cancellation planning.
The phone can work for normal use with a clean Pixel OS and regular updates without needing custom ROM installs.
Verizon Pixels can have a permanently locked bootloader, which prevents custom ROM installs like LineageOS or GrapheneOS.
Canceling the line can still trigger unexpected billing, including full-month charges that may require additional chat or escalation to waive.
eSIM setup can be buggy even when the phone appears unlocked, with some users unable to add other carriers' eSIMs and needing workarounds.
Unlock timing can be inconsistent, with online orders reportedly requiring up to a 35-day wait or longer backend processing.

On another note, I'm not sure the screen showing Verizon's number when adding an eSIM will ever go away. I had a Visible Pixel 10 that showed that screen even after unlocking. On that screen, there should be an option at the bottom to "add a different SIM", or something like that. But again, that was a slightly different device.
2. After receiving the phone, boot up and activate it on Verizon, make a few calls etc.
3. Check if the phone is unlocked. Download a Google Fi eSIM for free by starting a trial and see if that works. Fi is on T-Mobile so if that works the phone is unlocked for sure.
4. Chat/call with Verizon to cancel the line effectively immediately. They are trained to cancel the line at the end of billing cycle but you are doing this as part of buyers remorse because of poor coverage etc. In this case, they will charge you only for days the service was active.
5. Verizon will most likely send you a bill for full month. You then talk to them again, bring up Verizon policy to get charges waived.
Additionally check unmentionable cashback with Verizon purchases which can give you a significant cashback on purchase

But read closely, it's written for trade-ins ("at the time of your trade") — this deal has no trade-in, and I saw no 3-cycle term at checkout.
Has anyone actually been clawed back on a no-trade-in Verizon upfront discount? Or is anyone past 3 billing cycles with no charge?

Google Fi or another carrier eSIM is the way to test this definitively.
