Visit the deal page on a desktop browser. Also do store pick up if possible to get the phone unlocked right away otherwise you might have to wait for 35 days for unlock.
You can select new customer and pay in full to get the $480 price. You can then select simplicity plan. Once you get the phone you can just cancel the line. Verizon unlocking policy states the devices are unlocked immediately if you pay in full. Their cancellation policy states no activation fee within 3 days and then only prorated charges if you cancel your line within 30 days.
***You might have to wait for 35 days before the phone is unlocked if you don't do store pickup in person as Verizon considers their online store purchase with delivery not secure. You can cancel your line nonetheless as the device will still unlock automatically after 35 days****

This Verizon Pixel 11 Pro deal is mainly about getting a heavily discounted flagship and then verifying carrier unlock after activation. The strongest upside is the low out of pocket price, with store pickup and immediate activation often leading to an unlocked phone that works with Google Fi, Mint, T Mobile, or other eSIMs. The main catch is Verizon's confusing unlock behavior, since some units stay locked for hours or days and the bootloader remains permanently locked. Cancellation usually needs chat or phone support, and full month bills or prorated charge adjustments can take follow up.
Store pickup can lead to immediate unlock status after activation, which supports same-day cancellation planning.
Verizon unlock can be verified by testing with a Google Fi eSIM trial, which helps confirm carrier-unlocked behavior before canceling.
Some buyers report successful end-to-end cancellation after activation, with only prorated service charges due.
Some experiences show the phone works with non-Verizon eSIMs after activation, including Mint or T-Mobile.
eSIM setup can be unreliable, with some devices showing "contact Verizon" errors or failing to add other carrier eSIMs even after activation.
Unlock timing can be delayed for shipped orders, with Verizon support sometimes citing a 35-day wait or longer.
Verizon Pixels can have a permanently locked bootloader, which prevents custom ROM installs like LineageOS or GrapheneOS.
Canceling early can still trigger full-month billing or additional bills that require follow-up chats to waive charges.

Agreed - I don't believe BYOD qualifies, but it wouldn't stop anyone from grabbing a new phone as a new line, wait for CB to post, then cancel. $70 hit to pay a bogus plan for a couple months, but you come out the other side w/ $900 cb.
BYOD does not qualify?
Activated device 9/29 AM. Device shows locked.
Chat #1: The Verizon rep confirmed in writing the following for my records:
- the device is fully paid off, without contract, ETF, payment plan or device balance
- the device has a 35 day unlock wait and is scheduled to unlock automatically on 10/29
- if I cancel the service before 10/29, it won't affect the device unlock
- I kept PDF of the chat
Chat #2: After I saved the Chat#1 as PDF, I opened a new chat with different rep:
- Formally canceled the line. They sent me a link to confirm. Within the link there was a "next bill estimate" which I also downloaded for records.
Total cost for the service was pro-rated to only ~$3.00.
So, it can't lower the phone purchase price?
