Review that compares to an older u8 series https://www.techwalls.com/hisense...iniled-tv/
It's only 160 dimming zones and a 60hz panel. Picture quality is good especially at this price point.

Anyone know how long can a TV like this last at half brightness? I have a Samsung 40 inch 1080p that I've been using since 2012 and it has a few dead dark pixels which I sometimes notice. All of the LEDs for the backlight of the TV still work because I use it at half brightness as my room is dark. So for a price like this, I'm willing to upgrade.

To be honest, with Hisense your longevity bottleneck isn't going to be brightness/LED related. Some component they cheaped out on will fail first like a capacitor on the power board.

When they have the 4 year warranty for a decent price I always get them for these cheap TV's now. I've replaced 3 TV's going that route because these lower end ones seem to fail at or around the 3 year mark. I used to try and fix the TV's back before and have an assortment of capacitors now but it's not even worth it with.

I got this TV last month and it has problem forYouTube app. I just stay on the YouTube screen and stuck there. I have to play around the on app setting by remove upgrade, clear the data...etc until it works again.

I know they are cheap but what isn't cheap is the amount of time it takes to figure out why a TV broke. I'm 100% Sony for life. Hopefully TCL doesn't screw up their quality with their controlling interest.
