The CPU almost doesn't matter, anymore. You know how much faster this CPU is than my i5-6600k from 2015? Only 37%. More important is the ram speed, NVMe SSD, and graphics card, and this has them in spades. So the only real concerns are cooling and power supply. The 240W PSU included here, while insufficient for a desktop equivalent, should be more than enough for the laptop version of the 5070Ti. I can't speak to the cooling, though. If you're doing some heavy lifting with video editing, 3D rendering, or AAA gaming you might invest in a cooling pad. Don't let the CPU dissuade you, though.

My guess is that the screen won't be up to some people's standards, but at the price it looks solid.

Edit I see a couple nerds have replied below me, but I'm sticking with my statement: CPU advancements have stagnated and have little impact on real-world performance. Sure, the CPU matters, but not this CPU for 99% of tasks. There's a reason that architectures like the AMD Ryzen 7000 series continue to anchor current-generation mid-range systems. Also, potential security vulnerabilities on these older CPUs are regularly addressed via ongoing firmware, microcode, and operating system updates. The "risks" of using older, established CPUs are negligible and, in my opinion, they've been more heavily vetted than current gen processors whose risks may yet be unknown.

Also, be sure to note the comment below regarding cooling issues on this laptop. That IS material, as the laptop will throttle performance with higher temperatures. I, for one, think this is a solid deal, especially for something nationally distributed. Usually you only see this kind of deal at a Microcenter.

CPU is very important for 4x and sim genre games or any games that have tons of NPCs on screen that interact with each other and environment as physics and particles (that have environmental interactions) are offloaded onto the CPU not the GPU. Path of Exile 2 and GTA V would be the most popular titles right now that greatly benefits from a faster CPU. Also, any game on UE5 (which is quite a few these days and probably only going to increase) will also have a lot of calculations pushed to the CPU as that engine encourages real-team lighting effects that interact with environments rather than baked in lighting we've traditionally seen.

Cooling in this laptop chassis is not up to the challenge for the 5070Ti and causes this laptop to thermal throttle the GPU. Here's Notebookcheck's review on it:

Main takeaway is that in gaming the GPU is often throttled down due to heat. In Cyberpunk 2077 the GPU runs at 95W vs its 115W rated TGP and results in an average 98.9 FPS in their benchmark against the average 136 FPS from the other 12 5070Ti laptops they've tested.

Not sure where you're getting that 37% metric from, but this CPU is likely somewhere in the neighborhood of about 200% "faster" than a 6600k for single thread tasks and probably closer to 400% for multithreaded. Not to mention security fixes (do most people not know about spectre, meltdown, etc?), more recent CPU extension sets (for example, more modern native video encoding/decoding which are a BIG deal to the tune of 1000%+ gains, and Intel DL Boost / VNNI for AI and Machine Learning somewhere to the tune of 400%-500%), power efficiency, etc. If you're not familiar, there are ongoing security issues with hardware that require "software patches".

Realistically, in "normal" use... you would probably see a 200%-300% gain in performance over a 6600k

CPU lives do matter but it all depends on your use case(s). This is a great CPU (and overall deal right now) for a budget gaming PC and with 32gb of memory, a 5070 ti, and a TB of internal storage. The screen would also be my biggest concern. Even so, great little system to just hook to some monitors, keyboard and mouse and use as a desktop with a builtin battery backup lol
