Me, too. Travel for work a lot, and the hotel outlets are the worst. I actually have a long extension to run power to the desk or to the bed.

As a person that has messed up an outlet (read: melted) due to incorrect installation - outlets can melt if there is a mismatch between outlet output and breaker output. They both have to match. If the outlet that melted was put in by your "electrician", I'd get a new one! If it was not put in by them and your house was purchased recently, get ALL of the non matching outlets checked out!

For 140W the device needs to support the 28V/5A PD 3.1 power profile. The 100W happens when a device "only" supports 20V/5A PD 3.0. Amps are limited to 5A by the charger by design, if the device is limited to 20V input by design, then it's "stuck" at 100W with this charger. Which is probably the majority of mainstream laptops, I know mine are.

On my Lenovo Legion 7i Gen 10, which supports 20V at 7A (140W), with fallback profiles of 19.95V/5A, 15V, 9V and 5V - was only able to get 100W out of this with the included cable.
